Nationally: common and widespread.

First reported in Wiltshire: O Pickard-Cambridge, 1912.

The very common, autumn-maturing, "garden cross" spider, is found in a wide range of habitats which provide structure for it to spin its web. The activity plot, which includes records for immatures, suggests maturation in one year though it is generally stated that the spider requires two years to mature.
