Wiltshire spider distribution maps
Pholcus phalangioides
Pholcus phalangioides female with eggs
Nationally: Widespread, but sparse in the north; common.

First Wiltshire report; O Pickard-Cambridge, 1912.

This spider is widespread and common in Wiltshire, but as it is generally found inside buildings it is very under-recorded. It is quite at home in centrally heated houses, but is more often found in undisturbed places such as cellars, spare- or store-rooms. However, several recent records have been made on the outside of churches and on ivy covered gravestones.
