GLENN BRANCA'S

Branca's sympathetic harmony guitar:
  <br> (sorry it's not here)

Materials:
  • 1 board, 6'x2"x4"
  • 1 electric guitar pickup, with cable & jack
  • 1 rectangular piece of foam rubber, 1/8"x2"x4"
  • 2 steel rods, 3-1/2" long, 1/8" to 1/4" in diameter (for end bridges)
  • 1 steel rod (or tubing), 3-1/2" long,, 3/8" to 1/2" outside diameter (for center bridge)
  • 6 tuning pins (zither pins, or other tuning mechanism)
  • 6 anchor pins (#8 wood screws, or other anchoring device)
  • music wire--enough for 6 strings, each 7' long, several gauges ranging from about .010 (#1) to .031 (#13)
  • 1 slide

Tune the strings however you like. Pick the strings in the indicated area. Fret with a slide, moving the steel along the strings to listen for the harmonics that will excite the strings on the sympathetic side. Mark the harmonic points if desired.
