Don Preston co-wrote Stranger in a Strange Land with Leon and was the lead guitarist on George Harrison's Bangladesh single. He was also featured vocalist on Leon's the Jumpin' Jack Flash/Young Blood suite in the Concert for Bangladesh and Leon's live shows during that era.

Don is sometimes confused with Frank Zappa's keyboardist, Don Preston.
