TOP TEN MOVIES

10
WINDTALKERS
A slightly below-par outing for John Woo, directing Nicholas Cage and Christian Slater in this World War II action romp. Cage is good value as a psychotic, burnt-out marine.

9
GOLDMEMBER
Austin Powers' third outing manages to improve on it's predecessor and is continuously hilarious and suprising.

8
TRAINING DAY
Denzil Washington's oscar-winning role alongside Ethan Hawke is gripping viewing.

7
OCEAN'S ELEVEN
A superbly cool movie, only let down by the mis-casting of Julie Roberts in a role that should have gone to someone attractive.

6
THE SUM OF ALL FEARS
A gripping and timely movie sees Ben Affleck take over as Jack Ryan, in, arguably, the best movie to feature the character yet.

5
SPIDER-MAN
A triumph for Sam Evil Dead Raimi, in his breakthrough to mainstream cinema. Well-written and well-cast, with the swinging through the streets of New York effects particularly worthy of note.

4
BLADE II
A superior sequel, cool and violent from start to finish.

3
ATTACK OF THE CLONES
Star Wars: Episode II dispelled a lot of the negative feelings from The Phantom Menace. The  story suffers a little from the teenage Darth Vader not being as cool as we all hoped, and the gorgeous Natalie Portman rather unrealistically falling for him anyway. But the climactic battles are truly awesome.

2
DIE ANOTHER DAY
The twentieth official James Bond movie provided further proof, if proof be needed, that Pierce Brosnan is very nearly as good as Sean Connery as 007, and that Bond still bestrides the spy genre like a collosus. Weak imitations like Spy Game, xXx and the Bourne Identity didn't come close to the best Bond movie since GoldenEye.

1
THE TWO TOWERS
The second instalment of The Lord of the Rings trilogy beats all-comers at the arse-end of 2002. A story of amazing scale, brilliantly told with breath-taking effects.
