Desperate prayers by Trump’s great aunts in ‘sanctuary’ cottage said to spark Hebrides Revival in Scotland

2 Chronicles 7:14 – If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Two elderly sisters who desperately prayed to see God move in their small Scottish fishing village helped spark the movement between 1949 and 1952 that became known as the Hebrides Revival.

The sisters, Peggy and Christine Smith, were the great aunts of President Donald Trump.

According to “The Intercessors of the Hebrides Revival,” the Smith sisters resided in a small cottage by the roadside in the village of Barvas on the Island of Lewis.

“They were 84- and 82-years-old. Peggy was blind and her sister almost bent double with arthritis. Unable to attend public worship, their humble cottage became a sanctuary where they met with God. To them came the promise: ‘I will pour water upon him that is thirsty and floods upon the dry ground,’ they pleaded this day and night in prayer. One night Peggy had a revelation, revival was coming and the church of her fathers would be crowded again with young people.”

The revival movement is often referred to as the “Lewis Awakening.”

“During these years a large number of people cried out to God for mercy and trusted in Jesus Christ for salvation,” the Rev. Gareth Burke wrote.

“Another interesting feature of Lewis is the extent to which the church continues to exercise a significant influence in its society, despite the rapid secularization of the UK as a whole,” Burke wrote. “The Western Isles are something of a ‘world apart’ from the rest of Britain.”

Many who live on the island would attribute this difference to the Hebrides Revival “a mighty outpouring of God’s Spirit which occurred throughout the island in a three-year period from 1949-1952.”

One minister writing about the revival stated: “You met God on meadow and moorland. You met Him in the homes of the people. God seemed to be everywhere.”

Mary Anne Smith MacLeod, niece of the two sisters emigrated from the Island of Lewis to America and met a gentleman named Frederick Trump. They married in January 1936 at the Carlyle Hotel in Manhattan.

On April 5, 1937, she gave birth to their first child Mary Anne Trump Barry, a United States Federal Judge, followed by Fredrick Jr. (1938–1981), Elizabeth (1942), Donald Trump 45th President of the United States (1946), and Robert (1948).

On online post on the 2017 National Day of Prayer asked: “Coincidence or Holy Ghost? Not only did the revival reach the sisters’ Island in Scotland but the Hebrides Revival became known around the world. Little did they know that their nephew would one day become the President of the United States of America.”

Miracle of Flowing Oil --- Dalton, Georgia •

Friday morning, January 27th, 2017, Jerry’s granddaughter and great granddaughter came to visit. When they left Jerry picked up his bible to read. He had been reading in Psalms all week. His bible fell open to Psalm 39 and and he noticed a wet spot on the page that had soaked through to Psalm 63. He asked Joyce if the great granddaughter had spilled something on his bible. Joyce told him the baby had not had anything to drink. Later that afternoon Jerry and Joyce took the bible over to Johnny and Leslie’s home. They all agreed it was oil.

Feb. 2017. Over the next couple of weeks the oil moved through the bible from Psalm 39 through the book of Revelation and even into the back of the bible on the maps and the concordance. The oil stopped then appeared at the front of the bible in Genesis 1. It continued to move through the Old Testament to where it started in Psalm 39. It then began to saturate the whole bible. Jerry placed the bible in a gallon size Ziploc bag. When the oil began to fill the bag, we then placed the bag in a plastic container. Once in the container, the oil began to flow even more, filling that container.

The bible is now in its fourth container. As the container fills up, Jerry takes the oil and puts it in containers until we get together and fill vials. We believe the Lord has instructed us to not advertise, to not market the oil, to not “knock” on doors, and to not try to convince people what it is. His word to us was to give the oil away so He can replenish it. He instructed us to share the story, share His word, give the oil away, and the miracles will happen “outside the building.” And they have. His word was, “The church is leaving the building!” The oil has gone all over the world. We have given away over 150,000 vials. We receive testimonies everyday of the miracles God is performing in the marketplace, in the hospitals, in the workplace, in the streets, in almost every country of the world.

“The church has left the building…”

A Bible Dripping with Oil

Yesterday I went on a little adventure. The previous night a friend across the country heard rumor of prayer room walls and a Bible dripping with oil just a few hours from me. A few texts back and forth and she had me connected with a new friend who is a part of the community where this sign and wonder is taking place and I was headed on road trip to meet this beautiful community.

In the back of a little gift shop in Dalton, Georgia there is a prayer room. For the past two years people have gathered there to pray for their city, region, and each other and intermittently oil has dripped from the walls. January 27th of this year one of those prayer warriors, Jerry, noticed his Bible was dripping with oil. Starting with Psalm 39 it spread over the next few days through the rest of the Old Testament, the New Testament, and the concordance. Then the oil started back in Genesis and spread till it covered the whole Bible.

When he realized the oil wasn’t going to stop,Jerry put the Bible in a ziploc bag at first, but as the oil continued, he had to size up to larger and larger containers. The bucket he now keeps it in continues to refill. God told him early on that as long as he gives the oil away freely and does not sell it, the oil will continue to flow. And so in the back of this little gift shop he gives away vials of oil and invites people to dip their hands in it.

He sent a sample of the oil to a chemist who says it is most similar to mineral oil, but that it isn’t mineral oil. It’s totally colorless and odorless and according to the chemist unexplainable.

The little gathering in the back of this gift shop was such a sweet place of love and fellowship. Thirty or so people were there praying for one another, giving prophetic words, and sharing testimonies of healing. They are quick to tell you that it is God, not the oil that is healing people, but there are multiple testimonies of how God has used the oil to heal people of cancer, skin rashes, and other diseases. This news article also reports Jerry’s testimony of the oil as it was told to me when I visited.

When I dipped my hands in the oil it continued to multiply on my hands. My new friend tells me that they have seen this a few times before and it seems to be related to a healing gifting. The feeling of the oil getting heavier on my hands as the quantity of it grew was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. It was like the opposite of feeling something dry on your hands. The oil is the thickest I’ve ever seen, similar to castor oil, but is light, silky smooth, odorless, and colorless. Jerry eventually gave me a towel to wipe most of it off and it stopped multiplying but even as I sit here a day later typing I can still see the shiny residue from it on my hands.

Seeing the Bible dripping with oil was an amazing experience that deepened my awe and wonder of what Jesus can do. It really does mess with your head to see something so unexplainable but that clearly is happening. As I have talked with God about the oil and about why this particular sign for our region, He has reminded me how the Bible Belt has often held a trinity of Father, Son, Holy Bible. What better place for Holy Spirit to show up and make Himself known.

Signs and wonders like this are actually more common than we realize but I believe the two extreme responses they tend to get are why we don’t hear of them more often. On one extreme people deny it totally and cling to a cessationist belief that miracles, signs, wonders– basically anything to do with the Holy Spirit stopped with the Bible and it is wrong or crazy to believe those things could happen now, and that anyone that does believe in such things is deceived or making money off it somehow. Since the cessationists don’t believe any of this could happen anyway, they decry it as a hoax.

On the other extreme you have people that begin to obsess with the sign and wonder itself, attributing power and significance to it that was never meant to be there. This extreme is the folks that start calling and emailing (without even reading to see that I’m not the right person to call/email) insisting they need the oil for themselves. They place their faith in the oil instead of the Giver of the oil.

The Happiness Of Heaven:

The Joys and Rewards of Eternal Glory, by F.J. Boudreaux

Shows how the joys of Heaven stem from the direct vision of God--the joys of the heart; of the mind; of physical beauty; of the senses; of friendship; and of perfect love of God. Tells of the magnificent variety in Heaven. How Mary Magdalen's glory exceeds that of many innocent souls; etc. Explains that a high degree of glory in Heaven is within the reach of all baptized souls; however poor; ignorant or insignificant they may be here. A marvelous book!
The Rev. Fr. J. Boudreau, S.J., was a priest of the Society of Jesus and author of the nineteenth century. His work The Happiness of Heaven: The Joys and Rewards of Eternal Glory was originally published in 1872 by John Murphy & Company, Maryland. It discusses the infinite joy of the souls in Heaven, as well as the fact that all baptized persons are capable of obtaining it, no matter how seemingly insignificant they may be. Father Boudreau's book was also reset and published by TAN in 1984 with the Imprimatur.
