Jeepers Creepers 2 (2003)
Rating: 6/10
Review date: September 16, 2003

My favorite bat from hell is back and hes still as hungry as before! Set a few days after the first movie, a school bus packed with some athletes is disabled by the Creeper. Stranded in the middle of East 93 Highway, their life depends on surviving day twenty-three which is the final day of the Creepers eating frenzy on the spring of every 23 years.

This movie is a worthy follow-up to its predecessor although there are certain aspects which are lacking or could have been done in a different manner.
There is a certain character which is brought back in a dream sequence and somehow this just feels very uncreative (especially after being used twice in the Final Destination series). Although this doesnt affect the movie much, I believe director/writer Victor Salva could have come up with something else.
I certainly do appreciate the inclusion of racism and homosexual themes that builds up arguments among the characters although I somehow feel that it is used too much and it eventually got a bit boring.
The good thing from this movie is that we get to see more of the Creepers this time round and it is really shown in all its glory, flapping its wings while stalking its soon-to-be victims. The Creepers various unique behaviors are also shown and it is just interesting to know more about the Creeper, nothing more nothing less.
Director Victor Salva also makes good use of special effects which look great despite the fact that we know it is not top-notch material. The scenes involving special effects are done plausibly and it does look quite real and convincing.

The casts put up quite a good performance given the fact that its a horror movie which means that it doesnt require much acting ability to do.
As usual, there is the cute-looking blonde chick (Nicki Lynn Aycox as Minxie Hayes) that had the dream sequence to warn her friends about the Creeper (yawn). There is the tough-looking hunk (Eric Nenninger as Scott Braddock) that acts like a leader and tells the others what to do Well I dont think I need to continue, you get my point right?
The most memorable character is Ray Wise as Jack Taggart who is out to kill the Creeper for killing his son. His face expression is excellent (something we rarely see in horror movie) and I was really convinced of his role as a father hell-bent on revenge.

I am quite satisfied with Jeepers Creepers 2 because it expands a lot more from the first movie (action wise) with some slick visuals, good use of background music and great execution while offering more facts on the creature itself. Perhaps it would be good to reveal more of the Creepers such as his origin and historical background in future sequel/s. Ultimately Jeepers Creepers 2 is a fun movie that is entertaining yet falls short in some areas thus explaining why it doesnt deserve a higher rating.  Im feeling a bit hungry now; shall we go out and find some food? *grins ala the Creeper*

Memorable quote: It doesnt matter what you do, itll come back.
