Spy Kids (2001)

Two children found out that their favorite bedtime story The Spies Who Fell in Love is actually the story of their parents. When their parents are kidnapped by an evil toy making genius, it is up to the two kids to rescue their parents using tons of cool gadgets

This is an excellent movie which the family would love to watch together. Antonio Banderas and Carla Gugino as Gregorio and Ingrid Cortez respectively performed their role as parents in a rather funny way. Aside from some funny lines here and there, their acting are just average.
The main focus of the movie obviously lies with the children. Alexa Vega as Carmen Cortez and Daryl Sabara as Juni Cortez portrays their roles as siblings really well who occasionally argue with each, call each other names and so on.

The movie is also boosted by some cool music that helps to set the pace right. Aside from that, there are a lot of cool and creative gadgets which of course, looks very kiddies but still entertaining nevertheless.
The villain in this movie, Floop (played by Alan Cummings) is just your typical villain in kids movies but hes still very convincing in his role and his motivation is also clear and simple.
There are quite a few action sequences, albeit no violence at all since its made for kids. However, I still find myself quite entertained by them, perhaps due to the light atmosphere in which the movie is set and also the humors that occasionally slipped across the screen through the characters.

Overall, I find Spy Kids as a rather entertaining movie intended for kids and Im looking forward to watch the sequel, Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams, which is coming to theater this August.
Of course one thing to note is the message that this movie is trying to show which is how a family needs to work together to overcome obstacles. I would say that this movie is very nice for a family to watch because its very enjoyable for both adults and children.
So remember to open your eyes kids, your parents might not be who you think they are. They might be spies!!! Yikes!!!

Memorable quote: Never send an adult to do a kids work.
