Rating: 9 out of 10 Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Running Time: 1 Hour 38 mins
Bottom Line: A silly, strange movie you can't help but love.
Austin Powers, Kids in the Hall, SNL, what do all these things have in common? They were inspired by the great Monty Python of course! What's one word that can describe this odd group of people? Silly. Monty Python is silliness incarnated. It's fun, light hearted, unpredictable silliness. From the Killer Rabbit, to the Holy Hand-Grenade, to the Ledgendary Kights Who Say Ni, this film made silly history. Tons of phrases ("It only a flesh wound") arouse uncontrollable giggles from people who have seen the film, leaving others in confused silence. Wether shouting "Ni" or tauting the English mercilessly with a heavy French accent ("I fart in your general direction!") Monty Python creates a silly world for you to enjoy.
The story is taken from the legend of Camelot. King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table set out to find the Holy Grail, meeting perils along the way. Perils that include (to name a few) a deadly rabbit, a cartoon monster, The Knights who say Ni, The Cow-Launching relentlessly taunting French men, A three-headed and argumentative knight, and the police. Along the way they meet many strange people and creatures, including a great enchanter named Tim, Tim the enchanter. The cartoons spread throughout the story are delightful and odd, including a memorable one dealing with some strange and annoying weather.
The acting is first-rate, the dialog is extremely witty and quick, and the art direction is, at times, very stunning. This satire is one that is so unforgettable that you just can't help but think of it every time you see a bunny, pass by a shurbbery ("One that looks nice, but not one that's too expensive.") or hear a chorus line ("We're the knights of the round table!") This may well be the best comedy film ever.
Best Actor: John Cleese as several characters, most noteworthy being Sir Launcelot. John Cleese is one of my favorite actors, and is just hilarious in this film. (Well, just about everything is hilarious in this film) One of the best Launcelot scene's was when he crashed the wedding party, slaying tons of them for no reason. (It's funnier than it sounds) >
"You killed the brides father!" "Well, I didn't mean to." "DIDN'T MEAN TO?! You put your sword through his head!" "Oh dear, is he alright?"
John Cleese also played The French Gaurd, Tim the Enchanter, and the Knight

Best Scene: There are so many memorable scene, but the best was the Black Night scene, shown here. >
"It's just a scratch." "Your arms cut off!" "No it isn't."
