Installation
------------
The Flash Player Plug-in installer for Solaris is script-based and cannot be run from a GUI. If you are installing as a non-root user, skip ahead to "Installing the Flash Player Plug-in".
When you execute the install script as root, you will be asked to enter full path to the Mozilla binary. In most cases, this is not the same location as what the "which" command returns. If you do not know where Mozilla is installed, follow these steps:-
- Launch Mozilla
- Launch Terminal
- In Terminal, type "ps -ef | grep mozilla-bin".
- Note the full path to "mozilla-bin"
- Proceed to the next section.
Installing the Flash Player Plug-in
- Uncompress flash_player_7_solaris_sparc.tar.gz/flash_player_7_solaris_x86.tar.gz. A directory called install_flash_player_7_solaris is created. Navigate to this directory.
- From the command line, type ./flashplayer-installer to run the installer. The installer will instruct you to shut down your browser(s).
- If prompted, enter full path to the Mozilla binary.
- Complete the installation.
- To verify the installation, choose Help > About Plug-ins from the browser's menu.
To manually install the Plug-in Player for Solaris, follow these directions:
- Copy the following files to the appropriate plugins folder (where Mozilla is installed, or inside .mozilla in the user's home directory):
libflashplayer.so
flashplayer.xpt
Uninstall instructions
