This page lists your assignments for the second week of May. The web sites will provide you with valuable information for each assignment. Group projects and presentations are due on the Friday of the third week in May.

Assignment

Day 1: Plants Are Living Things
  • Read Pages: A4- A9
    • After reading these pages, create a one paragraph summary about what you read in you science notebook.
    • Complete worksheet pages 5, 7, & 9.
  • Review this lesson’s vocabulary words by clicking on the online glossary below:
  • Living Things: Plants – complete online activity.
  • Create a T diagram in your science notebook. Label one side "Living" and the other side "Nonliving". At home, look around to find things that are living or nonliving and fill in your chart.
Day 2: Parts of Plants
  • Read pages: A10 – A13
    • Complete worksheet pages 11 & 13
  • Using the Enchanted Learning password (given in class), Log into Enchanted Learning and print a pdf version of the plant booklet.  Complete the booklet.
  • Print and complete Identify Parts of A Plant.
Day 3: Plants Make New Plants
  • Read pages: A14 – A19
    • In your science notebook answer the two following questions:
      • How are fruits and seeds alike?
      • How are fruits and seeds different?
    • Complete worksheet pages 17, 19, & 20.
  • Review your vocabulary cards.
  • The Great Plant Escape
    • Read and complete the following parts in this site:
      • Case 1: Case Brief
      • Case 1: Facts
      • Case 1: Mysteries
Day 4: Everyone Needs Plants
  • Read pages: A20 – A25
    • Complete worksheet pages 23, 25, & 26.
  • Review your vocabulary cards.
  • Create a T diagram in your science notebook. Label one side "Made from Plants" and the other side "Not Made from Plants". At home, look around to find things that are and are not made from plants and fill in your chart.
