For an unexcused absence, you will have 1 day to make up any work that was assigned on that day. Any assignments that were due on the day of your absence will be due on the day you return to class.
A recap of the SHS Attendance Policy:
Per Quarter
* Being more than 5 minutes late to class counts as an unexcused tardy.
* Every 3 unexcused tardies = 1 unexcused absence
* Being more than 30 minutes late to class counts as an unexcused absence.
* After 1 unexcused absence (or 3 tardies), your parents will be notified by the truant officer. Your parents will be required to come to school the next day to have a meeting to discuss your attendance.
* After 3 unexcused absences, your teacher will notify your parents that you are in danger of failing the class due to absences
* You are allowed 5 absences.
* On the 6th unexcused absence, your grade will automatically be dropped to a 59.
* Example: If you have a 90 in the class, but you have 6 unexcused absences, your grade will be dropped to a 59 for the quarter.
* However, if your grade is below a 59, you will keep your grade.
Don�t forget that tardies count as absences too!!
* You will earn a 59 if you have 5 unexcused absences and 3 tardies of more than 5 minutes
* You will earn a 59 if you have 4 unexcused absences and 6 tardies of more than 5 minutes, etc., etc.
