ABCs of Kindergarten, cont.
Reading Buddies Our class will be getting together with Mrs. Demers 2nd grade class to share books and read together. This is a great learning experience for both the older and younger students, and a great time is had by all!

Report Cards
- Report cards are issued three times a year. We will schedule a conference after the first marking period to share the first report card with you personally. These reports reflect the progress your child has made toward various kindergarten objectives and uses a grading system that reflects the developmental nature of kindergarten learning.

Rules
- We use a crayon system in the room to keep track of behavior issues. Please see the attached discipline letter.

Snack - Each morning we have a short time for snack. The cost is $2.00 per week.  We ask that the money be sent in cash or checks made out to the teacher because the cafeteria will not cash checks for us.

Toys - Please do not allow toys to come to school unless they are a part of a homework assignment. No toy guns, knives, beanie babies, electronic games, etc.

Transportation
- If you plan to pick up a child that normally rides the bus, you must send a written note. Do not rely on your child to tell us this information, because children often become confused and relay the information incorrectly. If no written note is received, your child will be sent home by his/her usual method of transportation.

Unique-Kindergartners learn that they are special and unique. Kindergartners have opportunities to describe how they are alike as well as different from others. They share their culture and learn about different cultures within the class.

Visitors
- South has a policy that ALL GUESTS (including familiar faces) are required to check in at the office and wear a guest tag. South welcomes and encourages family involvement and the presence of a guest badge will help identify visitors to all staff. It is important to remember that while this may seem inconvenient to frequent visitors, it is the goal and responsibility of the school to create a safe learning environment.

Volunteers
- We welcome parent involvement and participation. There will be opportunities throughout the year for you to volunteer in our class and in school wide activities.
