Who is... Mrs. Loughrige |
My name is Erin Loughrige, and I am here... to teach YOU!!! I attended Fairfield Union High School, outside of Lancaster, Ohio. All I wanted to do with my life in highschool was SING!! So I decided to trek all the way to Columbus, Ohio (real far, huh) to attend Capital University. I started off well and fine, but then had this one itty-bitty pesky problem. I couldn't play piano very well. So... due to circumstances beyond my control, I decided to switch majors and go into elementary education. But, all was not lost, I did end up with a minor in vocal education. I think that all is well because I still am very involved with singing. I even sing with the Lancaster Chorale. Once I arrived at Logan Elm, I decided to continue my education and take classes through Marygrove College, where I received my Masters in Education degree. My newest challenge - National Board Certification. I worked hard last year and hopefully it will pay off. Sadly, I will not know until November or maybe even December of this year! But not to worry. I still have time for my husband Chad, and our "pseudo" family - Madeline, (toy poodle) Chi, and Sampson, (our two cats). This past summer was great! I was able to catch up on some reading, and enjoy the sun. I hope your summer was as relaxing and enjoyable! |
Mission Statement |
My mission is to not just teach students the basics of learning, but to awaken them to life. I provoke children to want to learn, not just have to learn. Every child is born with a gift. Some have the gift of language, others have the gift of numbers, and still others are born with the gift of song. To awaken a child is to not only develop their personal gift, but to bring out all of their qualities. Children deserve to learn: to be awakened to the wonders of the world that they find all around them. I hold high expectations in my classroom, but not so high that they cannot be met. I expect out of my students what I expect them to receive from me -- their best effort. Together we will work to achieve respect for one another, and the belief that if you put your mind to it, anything is possible. |
