| Welcome to Mrs. Schaefer's Preschool Class Hawaiian Hula Bear Project |
| First, we would like to tell you who we are. We are one of two Preschool Special Ed class here at Lehua Elementary. We are in Pearl City, Hawaii. Our school is located almost on the Pearl Harbor Peninsula. We have a very special friend in our room. Her name is Hula. |
| Hula Bear is very curious. She loves to lean about different places and loves to make new friends. This is the reason she will be traveling all over the Mainland of the United States this 2001 - 2002 school year. She will learn about how other children in different places live. She will learn about their weather, their clothes, their school, their teacher, their friends, animals, birds, plants, and trees. She will learn about what they do in their classroom, where they go to have fun, what they eat, what kind of music they like, what are their favorite books, and so many other things! |
| As Hula travels she will take with her things that we love. She will share our favorite Hawiian Children's books. She will teach children all over our country how to sing the Hawaiian Alphabet Song. She will take pictures, and stickers, and other Hawaiian activites to share with our new friends. She will even take favorite Hawaiian recipes from our Moms! |
| When Hula gets back, she will bring with her a "Class Book" that our new friends have made during her stay with them. They can make their book however they like. Included in the book will be information about where they live, who they are, what they do in school, information about their town and state. They will also send back with Hula a roll of film that they used to take pictures of her during her stay. The pictures will show what she did and where she went while she visited. We will take the film and get it developed. Then we will send a set of the pictures back to the children who hosted Hula. We will keep a set so that we can post them here on our web page and also be able to include them in Hula's scrapbook. So she will be able to remember all the fun things she did during her travels and all the new friend she met. |
