#13 MUSICAL TERMS

1.   Meno – less – Meno allegro means less fast (not so fast)

2.   Moderato – Moderate, or at a moderate tempo (Allegro moderato means moderately fast)

3.   Modulation – Passing from one key to another. (Changing keys)

4.   Molto – Very, much. Molto lento – very slow.  Cresc. Molto molto – growing very much louder

5.      Monodrama – A dramatic or musical presentation with a single performer

6.   Monotone – A single unvaried tone

7.      Morbidissimo – Tenderly, softly

8.   Morendo – Dying away

9.   Morgenlied – (German) – morning song

10.      Mormoroso – (Italian) –Murmuring, in a gentle, subdued tone

11. Mosso – (Italian) – it literally means ‘moved’ or movement.  But with other words it means rapid. Meno mosso means less rapid. Piu mosso means little more movement/rapidness

12. Moto – (Italian) Motion, speed, tempo – Con moto – with motion Meno moto is same as meno mosso

13. Movendo il tempo (Italian) – Growing faster

14. Musicology – The science of music (History, theory, aesthetics, pedagogy, etc.)

15. Nachtmusik (German) – Night music, a serenade
