1. Ballad -  In classical music, a ballad is a simple narrative poem, generally meant to be sung.

2. Bar -    A vertical line that separates measures.

3. Bel canto - The art of beautiful song, as exemplified by the finest Italian singers of the 18th and 19th centuries.(How we sing Italian arias)  Opposed to recitative and declamatory style of singing. (Classical)

4. Binary - The form of music that is divided into 2 parts. An A section and a B section.

5. Bocca chiusa - With closed mouth. (humming voices) (Italian)

6. Bouche fermee - With mouth closed. (humming voices) (French)

7. Bravo - A shout of acclaim for the performer, comomonly used to hail an opera singer.  The feminine form is brava.

8. Break - The junction of head and chest voice.Also known as the passaggio (Italian)

9. Brummenstimmen - "Humming voices" (with mouth closed). (German)

10. Cadence - The closing strains of a melody, phrase or movement to make the piece sound

finished.  Like "amen" cadence or V-I cadence.

11. Cadenza - In a vocal solo, a brilliant passage, usually at the end that is sometimes not written into the music. (The performer makes it up)

12. Canon - A piece of music that is performed in a round.

13. Cantabile - Italian term meaning "Singable" or in a singing or vocal style.

14. Cantate - Latin and Italian for "Sing" or singing smooth and flowing

15. Cantata - A vocal work with instrumental accompaniment, consisting of choruses and solos, recitative, duets, etc. Can be secular or sacred.
