MUSICAL TERMS - Co

Con - Italian term for 'with'. Like
con molto - with movement.

Concertmaster - The lead violin player in an orchestra
3.
Concerto - An extended composition for a solo instrument, usually with
orchestral accompaniment

Conductor - Director of an orchestra or chorus
5.
Consequent - The follower in a canon. The part following the antecedent or
leader.
6.
Conservatory - A public institution for providing musical instruction in music.
7.
Consort - An Old English term for instrumental or vocal ensemble.
8.
Contrary motion - Parts that progress in opposite directions. One moves up while
the other down.
9.
Crescendo - Gradually growing louder.
10.
Crooner - A popular singer who intones his song in a smooth, seductive way

Decrescendo - Gradually getting softer.
12.
Degree - One of the 8 consecutive tones in a major or minor scale.
13.
Descant - Highest voice part that adds to the melody of the piece. It is a
melody of its own.
14.
Diminuendo - same as decrescendo
15.
Dirge - A funeral hymn, or vocal or instrumental composition written for the
dead.
