PERSONAL COMPUTER / NETWORK DUTIES

  • Build, install and/or troubleshoot computer PCs, hardware/peripherals, software, databases, and networks on mainframes, miniframes, servers, and personal computers (since 1980);

  • Installed and configured various NIC boards for FO and Ethernet LAN cable for network/internet LAN connectivity utilizing TCP/IP protocol (6 yrs exp total from 286's to Pentiums 686's since 1989); 

  • Installed from scratch on new PC systems MS Windows 95/98 and IE (5 yrs exp on 95 - and 98 is resent) to include troubleshooting and the Registry; 

  • Upgraded MS Windows 3.11 to MS Windows 95 and IE to MS Windows 98 with the same details as above statement (12 yrs exp with 3.11 and 4 yrs exp with upgrade to 95); 

  • Setup and configured Unix MMDF (have installed), MS Mail and MS Exchange E-Mail systems and Internet connectivity for users (Unix 6 yrs exp total); 

  • Installed and configured manually and via network LAN -- various software and all MS office products, also installed via CD LAN tower. 

  • Setup and configured the above on up to several network servers both locally and on off-sites. Installed, setup, configured, and upgraded from scratch Unisys 5000/80/90 and all the LAN connections (via muxes, X.25 pad concentrators, and routers) both locally and off-site -- includes laying coaxial cables; install, setup, configuring and maintaining both Unix operating system and Oracle database system. 

  • In addition to all above, have trained users on the proper use of PCs and the software. Some knowledge of Window NT 4.0 – work sites/home. Some working knowledge of Novell 3.21 and Windows NT 3.1 - both on the job and at home use. 

  • Three years as an Information System Security Manager (ISSM) with the Unisys/Unix - wrote security information papers, assigned user's passwords. 

  • Trained users on PC security, networks, email to insure user's were not in violation of regulations. 

  • Insured that all PC had virus protectors installed, correctly configured, and regularly updated. 

  • Reported any violations after repeated times. 

  • Three years as Information System Security Officer (ISSO) in assisting the ISSM (different place) and reporting to the supervisory in violations and with virus and security concerns. Heavy into all makes and model modems and their unique setup and configuration on various platforms.
