Woodcarvers / Sculptors
John studied at the Dun Laoghaire School of Art
and Design and specialised in sculpture and woodcarving.
Theresa is a self-taught artist.
"We are professional sculptors and
woodcarvers since 1975. We use mostly native Irish timbers - oak,
sycamore, ash, beech and walnut, along with some imported oak and
ash.
Our work includes figurative carving, churchwork, wildlife
carvings, lettering and decorative furniture carving.
We carve one-off pieces, which we sell from our workshop and
through galleries.
We also work to commission.
All our work is hand-carved.
Theresa also produces small figurative works in bronze.
We use a number of finishes - stains, shellac based sanding
sealer, oil and beeswax for interior work and polyurethane,
Danish oil and oil-based preservative for exterior work."
