English Verge Fusee
This watch is from Framlingham, in the East of England, from the 1700s. I was not able to match the silver hallmarks to determine when this watch was made, but the best information I could find suggested the year 1720. While I believe it was definitely made before 1800, I doubt it was made as early as 1720. My guess would be between 1750 and 1780. Most English watches were made in London at that time, making this watch less common. It in unjewelled, typical of earlier watches. Also typical of earlier watches is the fine artwork. The balance bridge has extensive filigree artwork, depicting the sun and the wind, shown in the last photo. Ludo ergo sum . . .
