Welcome to my Santo Domingo photo gallery, a tribute to the rich history and culture of the Dominican Republic. I hope to persuade more travelers to visit Santo Domingo and enjoy the holiday of a lifetime. While the beaches and the tourist resorts contribute so much to the Dominican economy, the historic monuments and the cultural traditions and folklore, such as the merengue music, offer the greatest attractions for tourists. Santo Domingo is the city where I grew up (my family lived there for 27 years), and I hope that you will want to visit this historic city once you have seen it the way I remember it. Many of the early Spanish buildings went up between 1502 and 1560, and still stand. Most travelers are Europeans, and aware of the attractions of the island. Quisiera atraer a más viajeros a Santo Domingo para que disfruten de unas vacaciones insuperables. Mientras las playas y los destinos turísticos contribuyen grandemente a la economía dominicana, los monumentos históricos y la variedad cultural y folklórica, como el merengue, son grandes atractivos para el turista. Para mí la ciudad de Santo Domingo tiene un atractivo particular porque allí transcurrió mi juventud (mi familia vivió allí durante 27 años). Con estas fotos espero estimular su deseo de visitar Santo Domingo, en cuanto vean la ciudad como yo me acuerdo de ella. Muchos de los antiguos monumentos españoles construidos entre 1502 y 1560 todavía existen. Numerosos viajeros europeos son atraídos por estos monumentos y saben apreciar su belleza.
