Florida East Coast Rwy - A Personal Perspective
FEC at Bunnell JctThe Original FEC Right Of Way at the
Bunnell Cut-Off

The location of the original FEC right of way heading north towards Palatka before
the Bunnell cut-off was built, as it looks today.

We're at the reknown site along the Florida East Coast Railway where the original line plodded along towards Palatka until the 'Bunnell Cut-Off' was built around 1927, which streamlined train distances south from St Augustine many miles. This view is looking east/southeast towards Bunnell and the current FEC main (visible in the photo)I don't know when the original rails along this right of way were eventually taken up, but suffice to say that I'm grateful that there is ANY evidence of this original FEC footprint left in the 21st century.

Looking now from the opposite direction into the woods and along the trail which marks the original FEC right of way. November, 2008.
