| Martika
started her career as a child actor in successful American TV shows like 'Kids Incorporated'. Martika made her music debut in 1987 with the single 'We Are Music' recorded with the 'We Ares' released by CBS exclusively in Japan where she started to built up a fanbase. Next came the solo debut hit-single 'More Than You Know'. Soon after that came 'Martika', the debut album, which was a global smash hit as were subsequent single releases like 'Toy Soldiers' and 'I Feel The Earth Move'. In 1991 the second album, produced by Prince, 'Martika's Kitchen' was released with a more mature sound and also reflected the changes within music since 1988. The album was not as popular as her first, despite critical acclaim. However, it was by no means a flop and actually did quite well. The first single from 'Martika's Kitchen' was 'Love...they will be done'. It was very popular around the world but the next single releases un-doutably flopped. The last released as late as 1992. Martika was different to artists of the time. She wrote and produced her music as well as writing for many other artists. After a quiet period during most of the 1990's Martika is back with new music and a bright future! |
