1. 

  問:香港原創音樂劇的製作成本如何?
答:a well made medium scale musical if FULL PRICE TO PROFESSIONALS at least about HK$ 600,000.

問:會否經常出現不能回本的情況?
答:so we need subsidies and cannot give full pay to artists.

問:製作資源 (包括人才、場地、道具、音樂等) 主要來自哪裡?

答:from different places... Government / or sponsor/ or investors

問:會缺乏嗎?

答:not sufficient money and venue and high Quality AUDIENCE

問:在香港有沒有場地限制?

答:yes! 

問:適合演出的地方足夠嗎?

答:no!

b) 香港音樂劇 vs. 西方音樂劇

問:香港音樂劇與西方音樂劇的內容和編排等主要有什麼分別?

答:Actually HK and London/Europe and Broadway and French are so different. But HK musical is usually started with script/a book more than starting with the concept of music.

問:香港音樂劇多會選擇以什麼作主題?

答:no specific

問:原因在哪?

答:HK is a diversified city. We can find various themes in our works. That is a good place of freedom in creative work!

 

c) 香港音樂劇狀況: 觀眾

問: 通常吸引的是哪種類型、哪種年齡層的觀眾?

答:from 5 to 60 depends on the subject matter!

問:觀眾對翻譯音樂劇和本地音樂劇的反應分別大嗎?

答:HK ppl can listen and understand English very well, therefore I found most of the ppl will prefer the English version for those Musical in English. And HK isn’t like Japan. Japanese can't understand English but they got the "Four Season Theatre " which produced most all of the translated popular Broadway Show. However in HK, we don't have a big need in translation of those plays in HK. People love Musical in local issue since those plays seems like telling their own story --- HK ppl's story.

問:觀眾對本地音樂劇有什麼要求?

答:entertainment, funny and relaxing way to spend their spare time from their busy life.

問:原創音樂劇的成功因素在哪裡?

答:Marketing!

 

d) 香港音樂劇狀況: 「流行」音樂劇

問:怎樣看近來興起以流行歌手或流行感重的音樂為主的音樂劇?

答:Good for HK. No pop musical. No commercial way of running the business!

問:他們成功的地方在哪?會向他們學習嗎?

答:yes, will learning every possibilities from other people's success but select those suitable for myself or my company.

 

e) 香港音樂劇狀況: 「藝術」音樂劇

問:會堅持演出藝術性高的音樂劇嗎?

答:How to define 藝術性高的音樂劇? if the audience s quality are high, 藝術性高的音樂劇 can be a pop musical!!!

 

f) 香港音樂劇狀況: Solution

問:香港音樂劇有發展空間嗎?

答:Yes, but need more venue and more investment which may lead to collaboration with other Chinese cities or Asia country. Of cos if ppl invest on Musical, it will become a business. Marketing in big scale like pop concert may happen.

 

15.    

問:怎樣讓更多香港人認識本土的音樂劇?

答:Gimmick! haha may not be good in saying this. But HK ppl love gimmick! Education is a long-term work for helping the promotion of musical as well. Like LA, London and NYC, musical is a popular entertainment, show business rather than a “very artistic” activity. But ppl changes, life changes, habit changes, culture changes... why not? Opera can be a good entertainment in those days, right?
