These are webpages dedicated to Metamora, Indiana and Brookville Indiana, two places that I really enjoy visiting in the spring and summer. I have been going to these places since 1972, when I was just a baby, with my grandmother and grandfather, and now that my grandfather has passed many years ago, it is just my grandma and I visiting these places when we get the chance. In Metamora, we love to visit the old mill house, walk along the old time streets, and go into the many little shops along it. Our favorites are the fudge making shop, and the candle making shops. But the other shops are just as enjoyable to visit, as they display the many homemade crafts and talents of the people that live in that area. In Metamora you can ride the train, and take a short round trip tour of beautiful Indiana, and also ride along the creek on the small boat, that is still pulled by horses, walking along the side of the stream. There are homes that date back to the 1800's that also line the Metamora creek, that are across the street from the shops. The people that live there are friendly and kind, and it is really like stepping back in time while there. Just so relaxing, and enjoyable. There is a beautiful gazibo in the park nearby, which sits next to a lovely waterfall and a great place to enjoy an afternoon lunch. As for Brookville, Indiana, that is a fun place to stop at to check out the Brookville Dam, that helps keep the Brookville Lake at proper levels. There is a park there that kids can enjoy, but also picnic tables to sit at and have a nice day eating outside. It is cool to see the water rushing out of the dam, as they do open it up sometimes, during heavy rainy season, when the lake begins to get swollen. If you watch close enough, you can see the fish, jumping and swimming, as they take the water's path out of the dam and into the creek below. Many fishermen love this area, as it is a great place to cast their hooks. If you drive up the steep path next to the park area, you will reach the top area, where it makes a great look out area to see Brookville Lake, and the building that houses the controls for the dam. The lake is just beautiful, with boaters galore, and swimmers too. If you drive down further, you can visit the beach area, and enjoy a swim in the lake, or just lie on the sand and get some sun. Gran and I have done this, and it is just a great day out, but you have to bring the sunscreen or get a major sunburn! All in all, just two great places to spend the day, or stay at one of the local hotels, and make a weekend visit out of as well. Here you will see pics of my grandmother, grandfather, and I, in Metamora, and Brookville. The photo's dates are 1972, 1978, 1980, 1996, and 1998. So you will see me grow up in these photos. I may have grown up, but I have not grown out of visiting these 2 great places. They hold a lot of wonderful memories for me, and it is always great to go back and recapture those great memories, and make new ones too. Hope you enjoy these pages, as it was really a lot of fun creating them! Be sure to page through to the bottom of the last webpage, because there you will find some links to check out, with more information about these two places.
