This is Lucy, she's now 4 and a half months old and weighs 18 pounds.  When I adopted her they told me she was shepherd and collie mix, but the SPCA almost always says shepherd.  I can see the collie, but I think she's part husky or american eskimo dog too.  Her tail curls like that most of the time.  Her paws aren't very big but judging from the breeds we suspect she is she should get bigger.    I guess/hope she'll be about 40 or 45 pounds.  What breeds do you think she is and how big do you think she'll get?   Bridget
Lucy could be.....
Well she should weigh about 36 poounds full grown.  She reminds me of a Jack Russel Terrier, possibly some Basenji in her.
Lucy
We just picked up Wylie last week from the shelter.  She is about 1 year old and weighs about 32 pounds (we are working to help her gain a few as she is too thin right now).  The shelter said she was a golden retriever mix, but she is fairly small for a golden.  She curls her tail up over her back.  She has black markings around her nose/mouth and at the tip of her tail (?shepherd).  Her disposition is wonderful.  She is very calm when ignored, but perks up immediately when we want to play with her.  She came to us already trained (housebroken, sits, comes when called) and is picking up new things quickly.
Wylie could be . ..
Lab and terrier mix sounds about right. :)
Wylie
Chaney is the large dog with the ridge on his back. Rhodesian Ridgeback is the part of him we know about. He was brought to Ridgeback Rescue at only 4 wks old found abandoned on the side of a road. He has very long legs and is thinner than the standard Ridgeback male. At 3 years old he weighs 73 pounds. Chaney's ears are the shape and size of Jack Russell Terrier ears but when he puts them back they look like Greyhound ears. He is very intelligent but also very stubborn.
Chaney could be . ..
Could he be mixed with some greyhound or whippet?  That would result in the ears and the lighter bone structure.
Chaney
Duke and Daisy were found in the woods as puppies.  We think they were around 8 weeks old.  Both of them have spotted tongues with the back halves being solid dark.  Duke weighs 38 lb. and Daisy weighs about 32 lb.  They are now 9 1/2 months old.  We have heard people say they are of these breeds:  rotweiller, chow, husky, German shepherd, sheltie, collie, spaniel, and malamute.  They were found with two other dogs who were pure blonde and resemble jack Russell.
Duke and Daisy could be. .. .
My guess would be definately chow with collie,or sheltie.  They look like they have the heaviness of a rottie, but their weight points them away from it.~katie
Duke and Daisy: As a wild guess, maybe some Samoyed? Just the fur and build made me think

Here is a pic of my wonderful mutt.  His name is Zeus and he will be 6 on May 31st, 2003.  I adopted him through a local rescue group and we have no idea what he could be. He is a lot of fun.  He is very playful, but very much a cuddle bug as well. We have some guess, but any new ideas would be fun.  We think maybe Italian Greyhound, maybe Terrier.  Someone threw in Chihuahua as well.  Oh I forgot he weighs approx 20 lbs.
Thanks
Zues could be . .
Definately looks like a chihuahua face.  My guess would me chi and italian greyhound.
Zeus looks similar to Holly (see further up the page) apart from size. Looks like some sort of Whippet or Italian Greyhound cross...
Charlie is two years old and he acts like a pup. He enjoys playing and wrestling and he is very cute. He is the sweetest dog I've ever known! He weighs about 62 pounds. I hope to see what people think he is mixed with. I think he is part yellow lab and pitt bull.
Sincerly,  Ryan
Charlie could be . .
Looks part pit, if not mosly pit. kt

This is Mikey.I think he is a Beagle-Cardigan Welsh Corgi mix. He has beagle ears and a beagle tail, but he is a blue merle, which is a color found only in a few breeds. His long back and crooked front legs also lead me to believe in that mix.
Mikey could be. . .
Definately some corgi in there!  kt
Mikey: Corgi/ Beagle sounds right :)
This is Augie.  We were told that he is a Shepherd/Terrier by the shelter where we adopted him.  However, he runs like a Greyhound and has a barrel chest and long, slender legs.  Sometimes I see some boxer in him.  Maybe some Hound.  Anyone have any ideas?
Augie could be . .
Small for greyhound, but maybe some whippet and sheperd in there.  kt

Bella
We adopted this puppy last week from a foster home, we are curious as to what kind of breeds she has in her.  We know for sure the mother was either full lab or part lab.  No info on the father.  We tend to believe she is either part Pit Bull or part Boxer.  Can you help???   She is 9 weeks old, kind of hyper very "nippy" but seems to be training quickly.  Any insight you can offer is appreciated.Thank you
Kristen
This is Jade, she is six months old and about 40lbs.  She is our newly adopted companion.  When we adopted her the shelter told us she is a black lab mix and we would love to know what she could possibly be mixed with!  We have had a lot of people tell us she looks like a shepard.  Her coat is medium in length and slightly wavy, she also has grey and light brown markings around her shoulders, hind legs, and behind her ears much like a shepard would.  Her ears our slightly floppy and are turned forward, we joke that she is part rabbit.  She also has black spots on her tounge.  Jade is very friendly, obiendient, and a very quick learner.  She absolutely loves water and swimming.  Any ideas of what she could be mixed with?? Thanks- Jade and Kristen.

Bella could be. ..
Bella: You can see the Lab in her, maybe some Boxer or Terrier? Very sweet anyway :)
I'm guessing Yellow Labrador/Pit Bull I don't see any Boxer.
This dog is definately part boxer.  I have owned and breed boxers for years and she has the classic markings.  The white on the feet and chest and the stripe up the middle of her face indicate boxer.  Boxers are kind of hyper dogs, as she gets older this should tend to slow down.
Jade could be . .
She looks very sheperdy, those ears are all sheperd!  Considering that both breeds are very popular and commen, thats probably the mix.
This is Sorin.  She is full grown here  at about 34 lbs.  We adopted her from the APL when she was just a puppy.  She had been abandoned on the side of the road by someone :(  She is a real lover and has soft black fur that's nice to cuddle with.  There is a white stripe running down the length of her tail which curls over her back and is sort of fluffy.  We have no idea what kind of mix she might be, except that she's cute.
Sorin could be . .
Looks like a skipperke/ American Eskimo mix to me. ;)
Sorin: Some kind of Spitz breed in their, probably Schipperke.
Mae is a 45 lb one-year old female from Galveston Island, TX.  She is the
smartest, most loving dog I have ever seen!  She goes nuts over other
animals, from birds to her favorite- cows. She likes to push at things with
her nose, and she has three black spots on her tongue. When she sees
something threatening, the fur stands up in a line all the way down her
back. Her skin, not fur, has turned more black as she's gotten older.  Also
she loves to swim!
Enclosed are a couple of pictures of my dog Buffy. My boyfriend and I found Buffy and eight of her littlermates about a year ago.  We're guessing they were born sometime in February 2002, so that puts her about a year and a half old.  She's around 65 lbs, and her temperment varies.  She's a perfect angel with people during the day, but very watchful at night; and she argues with my 3 lb poodle over who's gonna sit in my lap, lol.  She's also very good with smaller dogs and cats, but she can't be trusted much with other large female dogs.  Any ideas??  Thanks a bunch!
I got Missy from a shelter rescue group.  They said that she is part Australian Shepherd.  The vet confirmed this, but said that he can't tell what else she is mixed with.  She is five months old and weighs 14.5 pounds.  The vet also said that she will probably weigh about 30 pounds when she is fully grown.

Mae could be. . .
Her face looks like a shippet, so maybe Whippet and lab or Ridgeback? ~kt
Missy could be . .
Looks slightly golden, but i would guess mostly Aussie.~ kt

Missy looks like a chow-mix.  She really resembles a chow-golden mix that I
know. ~heather
Buffy could be . .
Looks mostly Pit Bull, maybe some boxer in there. ~kt
Misty is 10 weeks old about 10-13lbs, twe got her from the ASPCA, they guessed Chow (no blue tongue) what could the mix be???
My dogs name is Angel. I know for sure her mother is a purebred Rottweiler , but her dad was a fence jumper. She's about 9 months old and at least 70 lbs. I'm 5'2 and when she stands on me her paws lay on my shoulders. Her paws are no less than 3" when she walks/sits.  Where Rottweilers are usually rust , she's brindle. She is very loving , great temperment. I've been told she may have some Black and Tan Coonhound in her. Any guesses on my little piece of heaven?
Angel could be . .
Looks like a rot/hound mix.~kt

Angel definitely looks like she has coonhound in her mixed with the rottie. ~heather

Emmie was about 4 months old when I found her at the pound.  Shes about 3 years old now and right at 50 pounds.  People often say she looks like shes part pointer but she doesnt point or hunt.  She loves to cuddle and chase bugs but her all-time favorite pastime is licking.
Misty could be . .
I don't see any chow, Just shepard, and maybe lab? ~kt
Emmie could be . .
Looks lab and pointer to me. ~kt
Hi.  This is my dog Tyson.  He's a rescue dog and he's currently 1 year and 9 months old, and 70 1/2 lbs.  The rescue I got him from said he's Bernese Mountain Dog/Collie  - what do you guys think?
Tyson could be . .
Looks like my dog Gracie except bigger!  I would lean more towards shepard/collie/retriever mix.~kt
This is Steffi.  We found her on the side of the road, dying from Anemia, severe flea infestation, Tape worms, Hook worms and several wounds from the hard life on the streets.    She is now around 4.5 months old and weighs 16 lbs. (She was 6 lbs. when we found her).  Here is her pic.  We know she is a mix of Pitt Bull and something, but we dont know what that something is  Can anyone help?
Steffi could be . .   She almost looks like she could have some whippet in her. ~kt
This is our Boomer.  He is 2 months old, weighs 9 lbs.  We adopted this little bundle of love at the SPCA.  They know that his mom was a small german sheperd, but dad was an "over the fence hit & run kinda guy" -- Most are guessing Sheltie.and I don't see that in him at all.  He definately takes after mom : )  Doesn't matter what he is to us, we love him to pieces, just curious if you have any thoughts on the mix. Thanks! Callie
Boomer looks like . .  Well mostly shepard, obviously, the face, size and ears do resemble a sheltie.  ~kt
This is my dog Biscuit.  I picked her up at a local animal shelter.  They say she is approximately 1 yr old and she is 34 pounds.  Can anyone help identify her?
Thank you, Kevin
Biscuit looks like a small lab mix.  Possibly some cocker or smooth coated terrier in there.~katie
CD could be . .
Looks like all of what you mentioned.  The basset hound would account for the extra skin.
When first I met Love, she was a timid, tangled mess.  Her exact age cannot be known, but we were told that she was about two when we adopted her five years ago.  She was probably four or five when this photo was taken.  We've guessed that she's part Cardigan Welsh Corgi, as she has the long body, short legs, bushy tail, and outturned front paws.  She, however, is a bit taller, leaner, and fluffier than most 'pure' corgis.  She weighs only 18 pounds but has a very ample ribcage.  She is fond of digging and nipping at elbows, and she is an AMAZING runner.  :)
Love could be . . .  I'm thinking that she may have some pomarainian or papillon in her.  I'd guess more towards pap, but then i've seen really big leggy thinner coated poms too
This is our dog Chance, he is 1 year old and we think mixed with lab/pitt bull or boxer or  america stratfordshire terrier(they all look the same)?  He is about 80lbs and has long legs, is taller than he is wide and is soooo skinny and it doesn't matter how much we feed him.  Great temperment except he gets a little nervous.  I don't know why, we've never beat him or left him or anything like that??  He's a sweety though.
Chance could be . .   He looks like a staffordshire/lab, or APBT/lab mix.
Well, I have been told by an owner of 3 Rhodesian Ridgebacks that Molly is a liver nosed, ridgeless Ridgeback. But my vet's tech thinks Molly is a Viszla with doberman ears. I think she may be a Viszla with Greyhound ears myself. But the Shelter where I got her told me she was a Yellow Lab mix.
Molly is female, currently 38 lbs. and is about 20 weeks old.  She has white on her chest and white tipped toes. Her feet are webbed like a lab, though.  She has yellow eyes. As a smaller puppy she had green eyes.  Her tongue is pink. Personality: A true "mushie"-mutt. Loves to snuggle on anything soft. Prefers our bed.  She follows me everywhere I go. Wants to please and learns extremely fast.  .  Her nose is on the ground more than it is in the air.   Can be highly energetic whereby she will run laps in and outside the house like a track field.  But, she can lounge in sleep mode for hours at a time by my side.  Loves other dogs and wants to play with my rabbit.
Molly is also very sensitive.  She doesn't need any punishment to learn a lesson. Above all, she is very vocal.
Molly could be . .   I think she looks like a pharoh hound/lab mix.  She would also have some doberman in her as well.
This is Marty.  He is about 8 and weighs about 90 lbs.  He probably stands about 2 1/2 ft tall (top of head).  He chases everything but hunts nothing.  Not afraid of water but not interested.  He can be a little protective but he need a darn good reason.
Marty could be . .
Looks like a Boxer doberman mix to me.  I think if he was mixed with shepard or lab, he'd probably be thicker.
I am currently not accepting any more mystery mutts.  Please feel free to still send your guesses in though.
C.D. (Charles Darwin Bittner) is probably the only dog I'll 'own' whose mother I've met.  She (C.D.'s mother) was very obviously a labrador mix, though definitely shorter and more narrowly built than her lab ancestors.  We were told that she was also part Cocker Spaniel, and that C.D.'s father was a basset hound (I suspect a mix).  C.D. is an incredibly good-natured, 56 lb boy.  His underside is almost all white and the rest of him, mostly black.  It perhaps should be noted that his legs are relatively short for a lab mix and that he has a very broad chest, which has a bit of extra skin (he also had a big of extra skin in the area of his jaws, which also can't be seen in the picture).  His coat isn't slick like a lab's, and it is just slightly fluffier on his chest (he also has slightly wavy back fur).  He is definitely a dog who uses his nose and is always up for a game of fetch, tug-of-war with a squeak toy, or a swim.
