Mystery Mutt Classics
Here is a page for all Mystery mutts that are no longer on the main page.  They haven't gotten any guesses in a long time ( you can still guess) but they still deserve a spot on a page so others can look at their pictures and guesses and learn from them.  That and they are all very cute!
Max
This is Max a boston terrier mix.   He is pictured here at 12 weeks, weighing  9 pounds.  His mother was a purebred Boston terrier  but his owner has no clue as to his father could be..
Max could be. . .
A   shot  in  the  dark,  I  going  to  say  Jack  Russel ,    Joan
This dog could be my Mom's dog's twin. Unbeleivable. Her dog is half Boston terrier, half pit bull (beleive it or not). As an adult, the dog only stands about15 inches at the withers (fairly educated guess.)   Karen Staley, Paw Power Blues Flyball Team
I have to say the other half besides boston terrier is AmStaff.  The face looks Staffy to me.  What a cutie! --Molly O'Keefe,
Here is Bizkit- Don't know anything about parents, he was abandoned at our house when he was about 5-6 weeks old.  He is now almost 3 years, weighs 50 lbs and half of his tongue is black.... Any guesses!
Bizkit
Bizkit could be. . .
**I'm just taking a guess but Bizkit probably has some chow in him, guessing from the black tongue but he looks like he could also have some pit bull in him because of the way his face is shaped. It is also possible he has some lab in him. I had a part chow part lab puppy and he kind of looked like Bizkit except he had grey fur. Good luck finding out what he is.-Wendy
**I think that Bizkit is part Chinese Shar-Pei. Some Shar-Pei (and mixes) have a face shape that is kinda like a pit bull's, like Bizkit's is. His ear set is somewhat like a Shar-Pei, and I've seen a lot of Pei mixes with ears like that. Also, Shar-Pei have black or mottled tongues. He could also be part Lab.-Lizzi
**My friend recently adopted a dog with black tongue spots, so I have been doing some research to find out what breeds have them.  I discovered that it is a myth that Chows and Sharpeis are the only ones with black coloring on their tongues.  Turns out it is like a birth mark that can occur in almost any breed.  Bizkit is not necessarily Chow just b/c he has black on his tongue.
**Bizkit: Labrador Retreiver/Pitbull terrier. He is very broad and has a good head on his shoulders.
Traveler
We adopted Traveler when he was nine weeks old. The lady who had rescued him thought he was 6 to 8 months old, and a beagle/dachshund mix.  You can see he's definitely not dachshund!  Traveler is now 2-1/2 years old and looks pretty much as in the picture when he was just over a year old. He weighs about 45 pounds, and his tongue is spotted.  Guesses?
Traveler could be. . .
I think Traveler looks like he could be part Rhodesian Ridgeback. I can't tellif he has a ridge of hair along his back from the photo, but of course mixes wouldn't necessarily have one. He has the right color and eye color, and his build is somewhat like a Ridgeback's.
Lizzi
Rodeisian Ridgeback!  I know he doesn't have the ridge in his back, but he looks just like one!  Do you agree? Likespets
Traveler: definately a rhodesian ridge back. The reason for the black/purple spots is because a lot of mixed breeds are breed with such a variety they tend to get these colors on their tongues.
Scooby
This is Scooby. He is 1 1/2 and weighs 60#)  He was a stray so I'll never know for sure.  He definitely has Akita (head, curled tail, double coat, coloring) and others have also thought the eyes give the Stafforshire Terrier breed away
Scooby could be. . .
To me, Scooby's eyes and ears look much more  English bull terrier than  Staffie.  Hard to tell how big he is, but the curled tail looks a bit like a basenji's.-peggy-
I think Scooby could be part Jack Russel terrier; he is about that size and his ears perk up like a terrier's. Also, the brown spots against his white body are like a Jack Russel terrier's pattern.
-Heather
I'm going to say that Scooby is part Jack Russel terrier- his build, size, and coloring all look like a Jack Russel's to me. ~Sharon~
Scooby: I think hes a pitbull terrier/basenji mix. He has the head of a pitbull and the body of a basenji. I dont beleive hes an akita because his hair would have been a bit longer even if he was a mix. The long hair is a dominate gene. He's also a bit smaller. What a cutie!
This is Woofles.  The people we got him from said he was a "chihuahua poodle mix". You CAN see chihuahua in his face when he's on his back, but he sure doesn't look like he has any poodle!
It was suggested  that there was some sort of terrier or shih-tzu . His tail, I noticed recently, has a slight curl in it..if he were larger, I'd say it was a husky tail, it's got that kind of curl.   He is eight weeks and 3-5 pounds in the pics
Woofles could be. . .
I think Woofles is definetly part pug, his ears look like a pug's, his coloring is kind of like a pugs, and his tail curls over his back like a pug's would. Also, he is about the right size. He probably is part chihuahua too, but I don't think he's poodle.
-Heather
Woofles is probably mostly pug, but he could have a little chihuahua in him. I do not think that he is any relation to a poodle, though. ~Sharon~
Woofles: Hes adorable! He looks like he has norwegian terrier in him from the wirery hair mixed with a pug or another terrier breed! he definately is a terrier though!
Woffles reminds me of my dog Angel, she is a jack Russel/Pug mix (Jug).
I have a chihuahua/poodle mix and Woofles looks just like ours when he was younger...altho he is snow white in color with a chihuahua brown stripe down the middle of his back. His name is Stuart Little and if the owner is interested in seeing pictures of ours...we have plenty!
Woofles
Polo
This is Polo. He has very thick fur with a wooly undercoat. He has purple dots on his tongue. In this picture he is 8 yrs old, and weighs 80 lbs. He looks like so many breeds, I can't narrow it down!
Polo Could be. . .
I'm taking a wild guess and saying that Polo might be part St. Bernard, because of his size and some of his coloring. As for the purple spots on the tongue-????????
-Heather
I'm thinking collie/german shepard mix, fur looks very lassie-ish and the shape of the head reminds me of a shepard. Stacey
Polo: Wow! what a mixture! lol...looks like a golden retriever, collie and shepard all in the same thing! Definately an odd mixture but a pretty fella!
When I first saw the picture, without reading the captions, I thought collie/chow.  But after seeing he is 80 lbs, I'm guessing St. Bernie/Chow.  Magnificent looking dog.~James
Polo looks like a collie/shepherd mix. No St. Bernard or chow though. Polo doesn't have a thick, heavy set body frame. More like a Collie.
Page 2 of Mystery Mutts
I look Labrador, but my folds of skin make my owner think otherwise!!! Sorry pic not tip top quality, but neither is his camera :)) Two of my brothers looked "very" mastiff, what am I ??
Jenny Could Be.. .
Jenny to me looks like a golden Labrador retriver.  It's a little hard to tell not knowing how old she is (guess from old puppy pic) but she could have spaniel traits too.  ~Heather~
Jenny looks to be a lab/shar pei mix.  I only say Shar Pei because of the wrinkles on her forehead.  She looks pretty close to a lab, though.~Likespets
Out of the litter of 4, two
looked like mastiff pups, just smaller, one had alot less black on his
nose, and then there was Codie who looks identical to Jenny.  I have
been searching to find out what he might be.
Jenny
They were both adopted at shelters. Shelby is about 4 yrs old, 35 lbs, and I think she's a border collie/aussie shep mix.  Keelo is about 2 yrs old, 60 lbs, and I can't figure out what he is.  The shelter said dobie/lab.  But he has houndish flews, and drools a lot.  So I thought he was coonhound/german shepherd.  He wines constantly, which is why I think shepherd.  What throws me off is his retriever work ethic.  He loves fetching balls and catching frisbees.  Any ideas?
Keelo (or Shelby) is. . . Shelby is definetly a border collie mix.  She is so pretty!  She may also be a sheltie mix, but looks mostly like a border collie.  As for Keelo...I have no idea.  Cute pic!
Taking a long look at Keelo, i'm thinking maybe Golden Lab because of the ears, and maybe Coon hound because of the markings?  Whatever he is, he is sooooo handsome, and oh, by the way, his "dinger" is showing!!!!  (
censored) Ha Ha  ~Rebecca~
Keelo has the same proud face as Olette, mother of Jenny, the ears and upright head.  Lab/shepherd/??
