Due to the many different perceptions on the original oregin of this breed we suggest that you read some of our reccomended books to better understand this breeds history. R.F. Stratton, as well as many other authors have some very good points as to the begining of this breed. One thing is for certain about this breed, they have been around for a very long time, and have been used for many things. The APBT breed has also contributed to the makings of many other breeds in the past years. American Staffordshire Terriers, and Bull Terriers, are NOT American Pit Bull Terriers, but are relatives. The American Staffordshire came about due to the AKC (American Kennel Club). Only a well trained eye of the breed can usually distinguish between the two American Pit Bull Terriers, and American Staffordshire Terriers. As stated earlier, reading any books on "The American Pit Bull Terrier" (not the ones that are just training tips, etc.. books that are dedicated to the breed in general,such as the ones we reccomend, and we will add to the list over time) will give you a much better perception on this breeds history, and the many things that they were used for from the begining, up until present day, as well as some history on the many bloodlines, and how they came about. |
