The Story:

The story of an ambitious young woman from a highly eccentric family, whose career is flying but whose love life seems to be going nowhere.

Carolina has a fun job at a TV game show called "The Perfect Date", lives in a fashionable apartment in LA and is best friends with her neighbour, Albert - a writer who makes his living publishing romance novels.

Carolina is looking for the perfect man to fit into her perfect life, and finally she meets him. It is time for Carolina to face herself and realise who she really is, and who she really loves.



Julia on 'Carolina':

�My character comes from this white trash family, and she starts off very embarrassed by them.� Ultimately, Stiles says, it is her grandmother who �makes Carolina appreciate the quirkiness of her life a little more.�

Did You Know?

The production of Carolina has been beset with difficulties. After a finance problem for producers Bregman-IAC Films threatened the viability of the project, Miramax came on board after much persuasion and influence from Julia herself.

Kathy Bates was originally cast to play the role of Grandma Mirabeau, eventually played by Shirley McLaine. Bates sued the producers of the film for breach of contract.

Director John Amiel (Entrapment) was replaced as director by Marleen Gorris.

Filming of Carolina took place between July 23 and September 5, 2001. There is still no confirmation of a release date.

The original title of the film was Carolina Torn Asunder

Writer Katherine Fugate is also the writer of The Prince And The Freshman, a film Julia is currently in talks to star in.

Katherine Fugate is the niece of Barbara Eden (I Dream of Jeannie), who makes a cameo appearance in Carolina

Jennifer Coolidge, who plays Aunt Marilyn, was "Stifler's Mom" in American Pie

Daveigh Chase, a young Australian girl who appears in Carolina, was the voice of 'Lilo' in Disney's Lilo And Stitch
