Part Two: The Celebration of the Christian Mystery

Section Two: the Seven Sacraments of the Church
Chapter One: The Sacraments of Christian Initiation
Article 3: The Sacrament of the Eucharist

1105. "The Epiclesis ('invocation upon') is the intercession in which the PRIEST begs the Father to send the Holy Spirit, the Sanctifier,
so that the offerings may become the body and blood of Christ and that the faithful by receiving them, may themselves become a living offering to God.[Cf. Rom 12:1 .]"

1365. "Because it is the memorial of Christ's Passover, the Eucharist
is also a sacrifice. The sacrificial character of the Eucharist is manifested in the very words of institution: 'This is my body which is given for you' and 'This cup which is poured out for you is the New Covenant in my blood.'[Lk 22:19-20 .] In the Eucharist Christ gives us the very body which he gave up for us on the cross, the very blood which he 'poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.'[Mt 26:28 .]"

1367. "The sacrifice of Christ and the sacrifice of the Eucharist are one single sacrifice: 'The victim is one and the same: the same now offers through the ministry of priests, who then offered himself on the cross; only the manner of offering is different.' '
In this divine sacrifice which is celebrated in the Mass, the same Christ who offered himself once in a bloody manner on the altar of the cross is contained and is offered in an unbloody manner.'[Council of Trent (1562): DS 1743; cf. Heb 9:14, 27.]"

Take note of the contradiction of paragraph 1367 and 1365.  1365 writes that in the Eucharist, Christ gives the very blood which was poured out.  Whereas 1367 inconsistently states that in Christs divine sacrifice in the Mass, He is offered in an unbloody manner.  Therefore, the Catechism concerning the Mass even contradicts whether or not the very blood of Christ is truly offered in His sacrifice in the Mass.
However, as the following paragraphs reveal, the Roman Catholic faith truly believes that the bread and wine of the Eucharist truly becomes upon consecration the very blood and body of Christ by means of transubstantiation.

1376. "The Council of Trent summarizes the Catholic faith by declaring: 'Because Christ our Redeemer said that it was truly his body that he was offering under the species of bread,
it has always been the conviction of the Church of God, and this holy Council now declares again, that by the consecration of the bread and wine there takes place a change of the whole substance of the bread into the substance of the body of Christ our Lord and of the whole substance of the wine into the substance of his blood. This change the holy Catholic Church has fittingly and properly called transubstantiation.'[Council of Trent (1551): DS 1642; cf. Mt 26:26 ff.; Mk 14:22 ff.; Lk 22:19 ff.; 1 Cor 11:24 ff.]"

1374. "The mode of Christ's presence under the Eucharistic species is unique. It raises the Eucharist above all the sacraments as 'the perfection of the spiritual life and the end to which all the sacraments tend.'[St. Thomas Aquinas, STh III, 73, 3c.]
In the most blessed sacrament of the Eucharist 'the body and blood, together with the soul and divinity, of our Lord Jesus Christ and, therefore, the whole Christ is truly, really, and substantially contained.'[Council of Trent (1551): DS 1651.] 'This presence is called 'real' - by which is not intended to exclude the other types of presence as if they could not be 'real' too, but because it is presence in the fullest sense: that is to say, it is a substantial presence by which Christ, God and man, makes himself wholly and entirely present.'[Paul VI, MF 39.]"

1413. "By the consecration the transubstantiation of the bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Christ is brought about.
Under the consecrated species of bread and wine Christ himself, living and glorious, is present in a true, real, and substantial manner: his Body and his Blood, with his soul and his divinity [cf. Council of Trent: DS 1640; 1651.]."

1375. "
It is by the conversion of the bread and wine into Christ's body and blood that Christ becomes present in this sacrament. The Church Fathers strongly affirmed the faith of the Church in the efficacy of the Word of Christ and of the action of the Holy Spirit to bring about this conversion. Thus St. John Chrysostom declares:
It is not man that causes the things offered to become the Body and Blood of Christ, but he who was crucified for us, Christ himself. The priest, in the role of Christ, pronounces these words, but their power and grace are God's. This is my body, he says.
This word transforms the things offered. [St. John Chrysostom, prod. Jud. 1:6: PG 49, 380.]
And St. Ambrose says about this conversion:
Be convinced that this is not what nature has formed, but what the blessing has consecrated. The power of the blessing prevails over that of nature,
because by the blessing nature itself is changed.... Could not Christ's word, which can make from nothing what did not exist, change existing things into what they were not before? It is no less a feat to give things their original nature than to change their nature.[St. Ambrose, De myst. 9, 50; 52: PL 16, 405-407.] "

The truth however is that the bread and wine of the Mass does not truly become the body and blood of Christ.  The truth is as the scriptures clearly declare, Christ was offered once for sins.  Christ suffered and died one time for sins.  And now that He is resurrected from the dead, Christ never dies, suffers or offers Himself anymore for sins;

9. Knowing that
Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.
10. For in that he died,
he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. - Romans 6:9-10

[28] So
Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation. - Heb. 9:28

[10] By the which will we are sanctified through
the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
[11] And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:
[12] But this man, after he had
offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
[13] From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.
[14] For
by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
- Heb. 10:10-14

2.  And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us
an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.  -  Eph. 5:2

[26] For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;
[27]
Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself. - Hebrews 7:26-27

18. For
Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the spirit:  -  1 Peter 3:18

Scripture is clear.  Christ does not offer His body and blood anymore for sins.  He did that one time and one time only never to be offered again for sins.  Therefore, the Roman Catholic Mass with its transubstantiation is a lie and presents a false Christ to its participants.  In addition to the scriptural truth concerning Christs work of redemption,  the scriptures also specifically reveal the corruption of recrucifying Christ;

[6] If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh,
and put him to an open shame. - Heb. 6:6

To recrucify Christ is to put Him to open shame.  Therefore, participants of Roman Catholic Mass put Christ to an open shame every time they take Mass.

The description of the Mass as stated in the Catholic Encyclopedia, calls the Mass a true and proper sacrifice . Moreover, the idea that the sacrifice is identical with Holy Communion is an idea that is not to be accepted nor tolerated. In addition to these beliefs, the person who says that in the Mass a true and proper sacrifice is not offered to God then such a person is anathema.
http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/10006a.htm

Again from the Catholic Encyclopedia, the Council of Trent defined the Real Presence
to be such as to include with Christ's Body and His Soul and Divinity as well.
http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/05573a.htm

Therefore, Christ with His flesh and blood, body and soul, humanity and divinity is present in the sacrament of the Mass.  Christ under the appearance of the bread and the wine is received whole and entire. http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/05573a.htm

Also are these words from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops website of the Doctrine and Pastoral Practices on The Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Sacrament of the Eucharist:  Basic Questions and Answers ( http://www.usccb.org/dpp/realpresence.htm )

This website reveals that the Catholic Church professes that via the power of the Holy Spirit along with the instrument in the person of the priest when the Eucharist is celebrated, the bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ .

Again, the words of this website confirm the Catholic belief that Christ is wholly and truly present, that is to say His body, blood, soul, and divinity under the appearances of bread and wine is the glorified Christ who rose from the dead after dying for our sins.

As one reads on in this website, there is however a contradictory statement which is made.  At one point in the reading, the website states that Jesus does not actually sacrifice himself again and again in the Eucharist.  Instead, it is believed that Christs' eternal sacrifice is re-presented, that is to say His eternal sacrifice is made present once again by the Holy Ghosts' power
so that we may share in it.

These statements are as contradictory as the previously discussed contradiction of the Catholic Catechism regarding the so called
unbloody manner in which the divine sacrifice is offered in the Mass.  For two reasons.  First of all,  the statement by the Catholic Bishops plainly say that a sacrifice is made present again.  If Christ was not really sacrificing Himself again and again in the Mass as the statement from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops website would have the reader believe.  Then making a conclusion that Christs sacrifice is made present again should not even be mentioned.  If Christ is not really being re-sacrificed again and again, then His sacrifice is not really being made present again.  Such inconsistent conclusions are subtle deceits of the Roman Catholic teaching in their attempts to validate the Mass.  But their conclusions are just that, subtle deceits which oppose the truth of Gods Word.

Secondly, Christ did not make an eternal sacrifice.  Christ suffered and died one time for sins.  That one offering of His body on the cross for sins completely dealt with the sin and death problem forever.   But if Christs sacrifice is eternal then He should still be sacrificing Himself for sins.  And such a belief contradicts the truths about Christs sacrifice for sins;

12.  But this man, after
he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
13.  From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.
14.  For
by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
15.  Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,
16.  This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
17.  And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
18.  Now where remission of these is,
there is no more offering for sin.
-  Heb. 10:12-18

So it is clear from scripture that Christ need not be offered anymore for sins.  The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops website continues by stating that the eucharistic celebration is not a rememberance of an historical event.  Instead, in the eucharistic celebration through the mysterious power of the Holy Spirit, the Lord's Paschal Mystery is made present and contemporaneous to his Spouse the Church.

Notice from their own conclusions, the Mass is more than just remembering a historical event.  But the Lord is made present in the Eucharist.  The Eucharist, the Mass is still a re-sacrificing of Christ for sins.  These conclusions by the Catholic Bishops is just more deceptive and hypocritical double-speak.  These conclusions of the Catholic faith further oppose what the holy scriptures conclude about the communion in which the apostle Paul writes;

24.  And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
25.  After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it,
in remembrance of me.
26.  For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup,
ye do shew the Lord's death till he come. -  1 Cor. 11: 24-26

Scripture is clear.  Holy Communion, not the Roman Catholic Mass, is a rememberance of a time in history of the means by which Jesus Christ took away the sins of the world as He was crucifed and sacrificed one time for the sins of the world.  Unfortunately, as is stated in the website of the Catholic Bishops (
http://www.usccb.org/dpp/realpresence.htm ), the Mass adds to the remembering of the historical event by concluding that Christ is truly present in the bread and the wine.

Further on in the website, it is stated that not only are the priest and the participants in the Mass simply spectators, participating by-standers of the Mass, but also they are in different ways active in the eucharistic sacrifice. If the reader can believe such a statement, the priest and the persons who partake of the Eucharist are themselves active in the sacrifice along with Christ.  Such a conclusion is certainly outrageous and can no where be substantiated in holy scripture.  The Eucharist, according to the conclusion of this website, is the sacrifice of the Church as it also is the sacrifice of Christ.  The members of Christs' body also becomes the sacrifice in the Eucharist along with Christ, they are united to Christ to form one sacrificial offering (cf. Catechism, no. 1368). The priest and the church members are united with Christ as Christs' sacrifice is made sacramentally present so that not only is Christ offered a sacrifice to God the Father but also the priest and the church body members.

Not only is the Mass an active participation in sacrificing Christ, the victim, but now even the church members and the priest are considered to be united in that sacrifice along with Christ to God the Father.. How blasphemous.  Now the Catholic Church is stating that even Christs sacrifice for sins is not enough but now the church members themselves are sacrificed along with Christ for sins.  Now the church members have an active role in suffering for sins along with Christ.

Let me state that I realize that the Roman Catholic church is not actually, physically killing its members when they take the Mass.  The Roman Catholic church is not murdering its faithful when they participate in the Mass.  The priest is not committing suicide when participating in the Mass.I understand that.  But what the statements do clearly conclude is,  that in the minds and hearts of the Roman Catholic faithful, they truly believe that they are participants in suffering for their sins along with Christ as they participate in the Mass.  The teaching is still unscriptural and eternally destructive unless the Roman Catholic faithful repent and confess these wicked beliefs to God.

As the reader ventures on in the website, the conclusions further write of the issue of transubstantiation.  That is to say that in the act of consecration during the Eucharist the "substance" of the bread and wine is changed by the power of the Holy Spirit into the "substance" of the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. The reader can also refer to the Catechism paragraphs earlier reviewed on this  webpage.

The Catholic Bishops can attempt to speak in philosophical terms all they want to but the reality is from their own conclusions, a change does in fact take place.  The bread and wine in their beliefs does somehow change and substantively become the blood and body of Jesus Christ.  These things however are in no manner supported by scripture.  Because of this doctrine of transubstantiation in the Mass, what the Roman Catholic faith has ended up doing is presenting a false Christ to its' followers and any other participants of the Mass.
