The National conference on Machines and Mechanisms is held every two years under the auspices of the Association of Machines and Mechanisms (AMM). This is one of the most important occasions during which researchers, designers, and practicing engineers working in the area meet and exchange ideas. The peer-reviewed papers are published in the proceedings of the conference and some of the selected papers may appear in the journal of Mechanism and Machine Theory published by the International Federation of the Theory of Machines and Mechanisms (IFToMM). In the context of fast technological changes in the global market, particularly, when India wants to be one of the leaders in Design, Innovation, and new product development, NaCoMM-2003 is of special importance. The conference will cover topics like Innovative Designs, Virtual Prototyping, Creative Knowledge Dissemination in Machines and Mechanisms, etc., towards achieving the above goals. In order to focus some of the challenging areas, few of them are very pertinent to the Indian scenario, Rural Machines and Mechanisms, Textile Machines, etc., are also introduced in this NaCoMM. The knowledge and skill in these areas certainly will help India to be globally competitive.
Topics
The conference will cover the general area of Theory and Practice of Machines and Mechanisms. A broad categorization of topics is given below:
· Kinematic Analysis of Mechanisms
· Synthesis of Mechanisms
· Robotics and Manipulators
· Design of Machines and Mechanisms
· Condition Monitoring and Failure Analysis
· Noise and Vibration
· Dynamics and Simulation
· Tribology
· Vehicle Dynamics
· Biomechanics
· Mechatronics and Micromechanisms
· Rotor Dynamics
· Innovative Designs
· Virtual Prototyping
· Creative Knowledge Dissemination in Machines and Mechanisms
· Rural Machines and Mechanisms
· Textile Machineries
Conference Program
The conference will consist of a keynote address, invited lectures and paper presentations.
Call for Papers
Extended abstract (not more than two A4 size pages including figures, tables, and references) of the paper on the topics mentioned above and related are invited by email or post to the address of the Organizing Secretary. The final papers for the presentation and publication in the conference proceedings will be due based on the acceptance of the extended abstract, which should not exceed 8 pages including all figures, references, etc., using 1½ line spacing and 11 font size. The MS-Word soft copy of each paper prepared in the prescribed format (to be communicated in the later announcements) with three hard copies will be needed for the conference proceedings.
Journal Publications: As a regular practice for the NaCoMM, the Editor-in-Chief of the Mechanism and Machine Theory journal will be contacted for the publishing a set of papers from those submitted to NaCoMM-2003 in a special issue of the journal.
Exhibition [For forms: spon-regn.pdf]

Dear Prospective Sponsor:
It is our great pleasure to announce that the 11th National Conference on Machines and Mechanisms (NaCoMM) will be organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Delhi during Dec. 18-19, 2003. The conference announcement and a tentative technical programme are given above. We expect about 150 participants from various institutes/universities and industries in India and abroad. Two eminent professors from Japan (Prof. Y. Nakamura, Univ. of Tokyo) and the USA (Prof. B. Roth, Stanford Univ.) have confirmed to deliver the keynote lectures. Three internationally reputed Indian speakers (Prof. J.S. Rao, Quest India Ltd., Bangalore; Prof. K. Issac, IIT Bombay; and Dr. K.K. Chaturvedi, Corporate R&D, BHEL, Hyderabad) have agreed to deliver the memorial lectures.
We would like your organization to be associated with this important conference by taking part in any of the following ways:
1) Sponsoring the conference
2) Exhibiting your product or Advertising in the conference souvenir
3) Sending a few delegates
The rates and the associated forms are attached herewith. You may also consider to sponsor lunches/dinners, tea, delegate kits, cultural evening, etc. which will be duly acknowledged. Any queries in this regard may be addressed to me or to Dr. Dr. S.K. Saha, Organizing Secretary. Also contact Dr. Saha before you send any cheque as sponsorship. Your participation is expected to lead to a very fruitful interaction between academia and industries.
We look forward to your support to make this conference a grand success.
