Brewing a proper pot of tea:
Even though I tend to assume this
is common knowledge it occurred
to me that enough time has passed
that it may not be.
I was first acquainted with this
information before the age of seven.
Of course all of the adults from that
time period have all passed on so
I'm in the dark as to how universal
this process is so here it is.
The Teapot should be warmed first.
Of course I'm referring to the ceramic /
porcelain type of Tea pot. Filling it with
hot water and pouring it out after a short
time will do the trick.
The amount of Tea should be one teaspoon
per cup and one for the pot. (generally 4 to
6 oz water per cup).
Place the Tea in the pot first and pour the
water in as soon as it boils.
Chemically treated water is "bad" to make
any kind of tea with. Pre-boiling water and
allow it to set awhile will usually release
the chorine and other gases from the water
which can then be reheated and used.
Purist prefer to use untreated spring water.
After pouring in the water, let the Tea brew
for 3 minutes, then stir. After another minute
it may be poured.
Tea bags should not be used as they tend
to filter out some of the bouquet that makes
many Teas interesting in the first place.
No Tea, Herb Tea or any herbal infusion
should under any circumstances be boiled.
Boiling will destroy any vitamin content as
well as destroying the taste and aroma.
There are instances where herbs are boiled
but drinkable tea isn't one of them.
