This meconium Connector was presented as POSTER presentation at National Conference of N.N.F. in Year 2002 at KOCHI. Resuscitation of the newborn through meconium stained liquor poses a significant challenge for the attending pediatrician. In addition to intrapartum suctioning of the mouth, nose & posterior pharynx, If baby is non-vigorous then there is need for suctioning of trachea immediately after the baby is born. The suctioning of trachea requires a number of equipment including a meconium connector. This meconium connector is not available in India and there has always been felt need to have a proper connector to facilitate the process of endotrachael suction. This connector is a sturdy reusable / autoclavable item made up of stainless steel that can be used for endotrachael suctioning of a non-vigorous baby born through meconium stained liquor. It has three ports- one for connecting endotrachael tube, one for thumb control of suction and third for connecting suction tube. Port connecting suction tube is such that suction tubes with different calibers can be easily connected to it.
