My search ended with a local salon that claimed it catered to natural hair. Let me just say, I was a fool to believe and extremely naive.

I walked in, a the stylist examined my hair.  Instinctively I knew I couldn't trust him to press my hair. I ALLOWED him to talk me into getting a relaxer. He proceeded to cut my hair from it's original 16 inches plus, to 4 inches and then he RELAXED it.

The deed was done and because of the irrational mindset I was in, I continued to relax for the next 2 years.

By October 2000, I was ready to stop relaxing once again. This was for many reasons.

1. I have never liked going to salons. I would sit in a salon every Saturday for a minimum of 4 hours to get my hair done. I hated spending the money to get my hair done, and I typically didn't like how it looked.

2. I knew relaxers weren't good for me. I knew deep down , they were poisonous and unnecessary.

3. I wanted to see MY hair. In it true natural state. I was beginning to love myself more than the world at large.

So I did my research and found a salon and a wonderful lady , who could put a slammin' and believable weave in my hair.

My journey had begun!
