Lesson
Plan: Religion “ I Belong To”
1)
Ask students to stand up. The teacher will read out the following statements.
If the statement is true for the child, they will do as the task asks them to.
"Everyone stand up."
"Everyone who plays an instrument, clap your hands four
times."
"Everyone who has a dog or cat as a pet,
put your right hand on your head."
"Everyone who likes to play sports, stand on one foot
“Everyone who has a brother, shake hands with someone next
to you”
"Everyone who has been to another country,
put your left hand on your right shoulder."
"Everyone who speaks more than one language, touch your
nose."
"Everyone who has brown eyes, turn around twice. "
“Everyone who is an only child, sit on your chair and get
back up.”
"Everyone who likes pizza, touch your toes. "
“Everyone who has blue eyes, stomp your feet three times”
"Everyone who was born in another city, raise your
hand."
"Everyone who has a sister, jump up
and down."
"Everyone who has a brother, pat your knees. "
2)Remind the students about what was taught the previous
week about belonging. Hand out an assignment sheet – Circles of Friends, and
have students complete independently. To start, they
can write two people in each circle. Then if they have time to write more, they
may do so. These circles are personal and represent actual people in children’’s lives (not simply roles of people).
3)
When most students have completed their handout, we will have the students
share some of their answers. Each student will be given the opportunity to
share at least one answer with the class.
4)Students will then be asked to draw, in their notebooks,
one picture showing how they helped their family, school, friends, and groups,
and another picture showing how someone from their family, school, friends, or
groups has helped them. OR Students will be asked to draw a picture that
represents a group they belong to.
