When you have collected the data from ALL members of your group, you should open a Word document and enter the data as a Comma Separated Value (CSV) file. Example data in CSV form: "Ellen","Jones","F",17,1.8,0.8,0.4 .........................etc - Ensure that all values are entered in the correct order - Separate all values with a comma - no spaces inbetween - Put " " marks around ALL text entries - Save as a .txt file, naming your file with your email address e.g JSmith777.txt You should then email your data to ALL other nodes - attach the .txt files to your email |
Creating the Results Spreadsheet Open a new Excel Spreadsheet and enter the appropriate column headings for Name, Age, Gender etc. Ensure that these are in the SAME order as the data capture form. Click in the first available cell under your first data column. From the Data menu, select Get external data Select Import Text File Navigate to your data folder, select the first .txt file and click Import Wizard Step 1: Select the delimited option and start at row 1 Check that your Preview data window looks as expected Click Next Wizard Step 2: Select comma delimiters and ensure that Text qualifier is set to " Check that your Preview data window looks as expected Click Next Wizard Step 3: Ensure that the data format is set to General Click Finish Import the data into the Existing worksheet Check that the data is as you expected. Click in the next free row and repeat for all other .txt files that you have received. Save regularly |
