The Blood of Jesus

Ephesians 1:3-8

Introduction:  The object of our faith is the Blood of Jesus.  We have hope, Christ in us, the hope of glory.  We have love, desiring to be filled with the fullness of God.  We have faith, but have trouble in directing it to a direct object.  Today that object is the Blood of Jesus.

I.             To “plead the blood”

A.    This means “Speaking blood, Speaking faith”

1.     We don’t have the actual blood to use to sprinkle or offer.

2.     Just as in communion, we don’t have the body and blood of Jesus.

3.     This is a symbolic term used to apply the blood by faith.

II.          Benefits in the shed blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.

A.    Note, the Blood of Jesus is the basic or reason why we possess these benefits, to name a few.

1.     Our faith grows - - - Romans 10:17

2.     We recognize the object of our faith.

a.     It is the Blood of Jesus that purchased our salvation with all its benefits.

b.     When we really understand this, our faith in the Blood of Jesus soars.

3.     So when we accept and understand that the object and foundation of our faith is the Blood of Jesus.

III.       Is this scriptural?

A.    One thing to believe and appreciate what the blood has accomplished for us.

1.     It is another thing to place our faith in Blood of Jesus.

2.     Is it really scriptural to place our faith in the Blood of Jesus?

B.    Look at two other scriptures.

1.     1 Corinthians 2:5

2.     Faith in the Power of God.

3.     When we praise, we magnify and exalt the Power of God

4.     We cannot but think on His power when we:
