Speaking the Blood #1

“Of First Importance”

1 Corinthians 15:3-4

Introduction: The importance of bringing the Power of the Blood to the attention of the Church.

The Church has a tendency to shun away from the Blood instead of moving toward the Blood of Jesus.

I.             We must have a reverence for the Blood.

A.    What the word reverence means.

B.    The emotion inspired by what arouses one’s deep respect or veneration.  Showing deep respect.

C.   As a Christian we must realize the Blood of Jesus is the legal basic for our faith.

1.     Ephesians 1:7

2.     1 John 1:7

3.     These verses reveal that our cleansing and salvation from sins are based on the Blood of Jesus.

4.     Also the many other benefits provided; redemption, forgiveness, cleansing, justification, reconciliation, sanctification, peace, approach to God, eternal inheritance, and healing.

D.   Two questions that will be dealt with:

1.     How important is it to study the Blood of Jesus?

2.     Using the phrase “plead the Blood of Jesus Christ”, is it scriptural?

II.          Why study about the blood?

A.    Our foundation scripture is 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 {NIV]

1.     “Of first importance”

2.     Christ’ death, burial, and resurrection are called “of first importance”

3.     These fundamental truths were set forth by Paul

4.     They were by supernatural revelation to the church.

5.     Galatians 1:11-12

B.    “That Christ died” is what is preached most.

1.     The Holy Spirit wants to reveal to us a deeper meaning of the Blood of Jesus.

2.     How the Church of God was purchased.  Acts 20:28

a.     Note the context of the verse.

b.     The very Blood of God the Father

c.     The mystery of the trinity, considering the Blood of God Himself.

d.     Manifested in the human body of Jesus.

e.     It was through Jesus that the precious Blood of God purchased the Church.

f.      Ask the Father if the study of THE BLOOD is important?

III.       “Pleading the Blood” or “Speaking the Blood”

A.    The second question asked was, “is it scriptural?”

1.     The actual phrase is not in the Bible.

2.     Also, neither is the phrase “Sunday School” in the Bible.

a.     Yet the concept of our modern Sunday School is implied in the scripture.

3.     Two examples:

a.     Colossians 1:10 states, “- - - - increasing the knowledge of God”.

b.     2 Timothy 2:15 states, “- - - - study to show thyself approved unto God.

4.     So “Pleading the Blood” as implied in the scripture is a valid expression of our faith in the Blood.

Conclusion: One is to use the phrase with utmost reverence and faith, not to be tossed around because is sounds real spiritual.  You are using a very powerful tool given to the Church to combat the enemy.  The Blood of Jesus and the Name of Jesus and the Word gives the believer powerful tools with which to live the overcoming life for God.
