Areas of Human Dominion

Romans 6:14-18

These areas we must be able to overcome and stand in authority and dominion.  Today we study two more areas we must have dominion over.

I.             To Review

A.    Just to refresh the two areas, sin and finances.

1.     Romans 6:14

Repeat confession: “SIN SHALL NOT HAVE DOMINION OVER ME.  I HAVE DOMINION IN THIS SITUATION.  I CHOOSE TO DIMINATE OVER THIS TEMPATION.  I HAVE DOMINION OVER SIN ACCORDING TO THE WORD OF GOD.

2.     Psalm 119:133 – God’s Word, our greatest weapon against sin.

B.    Our finances

1.     We must remember, God is a God of wealth, He owns it all.

a.     Haggai 2:8

2.     Abraham, our example of a man blessed of God.

a.     Genesis 24:34-35

b.     Genesis 13:2

3.     Greatest key to Abraham’s success.

a.     Genesis 14:20 – the tithe

b.     We are the seed of Abraham.  Galatians 3:9, 13, 14, 29

II.             Dominion Over the World of Demons.

A.    Dominion over devils is one of the most important areas in which Christians can have power.

1.     Divine authority for the child of God extends to a realm which is unseen by the natural man.

2.     Every disciple must know that his warfare is not physical, natural or carnal.

a.     Ephesians 6:12

3.     Your battle is in the spiritual world.  2 Corinthians 10:4

a.     It is not against flesh and blood, that is against humans.

b.     Our battle is against the rulers of darkness.

c.     We must pull down these strongholds, our mountains.

4.     These strongholds must be pulled down in order to win the masses for Jesus.

B.    We must do what Mark 16:17 says.

1.     Who are these devils?

a.     Fallen angels and Lucifer himself

b.     Isaiah 14:12-17, Ezekiel 28:11-19

c.     These fallen angels are in complete obedience to their master, Satan.

2.     Their job is to dominate humans.

a.     Cause them to rebel against God

b.     Corrupt their thoughts

c.     Ruin their lives

d.     In the end, cause them to miss heaven

3.     NOTE: The ultimate success or failure of the disciple will not be in the visible world, but the invisible.

C.   Jesus has given us the authority.

1.     Which is the right to command

2.     Jesus has given us the power to act, to use His Name against the devil.

D.   The glorious day that is coming.

1.     Revelation 20:1=3

a.     No devil, no sin, no sickness

III.       The World of Thought.

A.    The human mind may be the greatest area of battle in the spiritual conflict.

1.     2Corinthians 10:4-5

B.    Dominion: Every thought is to be controlled and lined up with the Word of God.

1.     When Satan injects thoughts of doubt or fear:

a.     They must be brought into captivity

b.     Must be cast out by the Word of God

c.     2Timothy 1:7

2.     A fearful mind is not a sound mind.

a.     One must rebuke fearful thoughts

b.     A doubtful mind is not a sound mind

c.     Cast out doubts by the Word of God

3.     Note:  Our minds are not to be ‘garbage containers’

a.     Fact:  We do what our minds are full of

b.     Do not entertain evil thoughts

c.     If evil thoughts come, do not entertain or allow them to stay

d.     Do not toy or pet them

e.     Cast them out at once, IMMEDIATELY!

4.     Time to replace our thoughts

a.     Philippians 4:8

b.     If our thoughts are not right, replace them.

c.     You are to simply refuse to let them stay.

Conclusion: These two areas, dominion over Satan and our thought life will assure victory.  In these two areas Disciples of Christ must assert dominion and bring into captivity every wild and unspiritual thought to the obedience of Christ.
