Lewis Monkey Flower
Mimulus lewisii
This species is named for Meriwether Lewis, of the Lewis and Clark expedition. He was the first to collect samples of it (in what is now northern Montana). It occurs in moist, high altitude areas throughout the Rocky Mountain region.

Yellow Monkey Flower
Mimulus guttatus
Monkey flowers often have hairs or spots in the throat of the blossom, which helps attract insects to the pollen. The species name "guttatus" means "spotted".
