The Family Voices Mission Family Voices, a national grassroots network of families and friends, advocates for health care services that are family-centered, community-based, comprehensive, coordinated and culturally competent for all children and youth with special health care needs; promotes the inclusion of all families as decision makers at all levels of health care; and supports essential partnerships between families and professionals
Family Voices was founded in 1992 by family leaders concerned about the changing health care environment and the implications for oour children with disabilities, chronic illnesses, and other special health care needs. Based in New Mexico, Family Voices has developed an extensive network of state and regional coordinators all of whom are family members of children with special health care needs (CSHCN)--and has a formal state chapter in a number of states including North Dakota. The network leaders work with families and professionals at the local, state and national level to improve health care and related services for children.
Family Voices of North Dakota FVND was started in 1996 and became a State Chapter formally sanctioned by the national organization in the first quarter of 2001. |
