The heat wave results in passions riding high between Michael and Maria, Alex and Isabel share an intimate dance and Max and Liz give into their desires and have their first kiss.
Later that night, Alex and Liz are arrested at a party that gets out of hand. Liz uses her time alone with Alex to mend their friendship and ends up telling him the truth.
EPISODE #10 "THE BALANCE"
Michael is angry when he learns about Max's trip to the Indian Reservation, and decides to take a look for himself. He participates in a ritual with River Dog that results in Michael finding himself in a hallucinatory state. The rest of them decide to look past their differences in order to save Michael's life.
EPISODE #11 "THE TOY HOUSE"
A grease fire at the Evans house results in Max using his power to save his mother. This serves to heighten her suspicions and she confronts Max about his special powers. Max enlists the help of Michael and Isabel to prevent his mother from discovering the truth. Further complications arise when Sherrif Valenti stops by to inquire about the fire.
EPISODE #12 "INTO THE WOODS"
Rumours of a fresh UFO sighting coincide with the annual Fathers' camping trip. Liz gives in to her father, even though she doesn't want to go. Although the trip ends up being more exciting than she had bargained for when she gets caught up in the aliens' quest to investigate the sighting. River Dog appears and helps Michael in his search, but trouble aplenty with Sherrif Valenti is hot on their trail.
EPISODE #13 "THE CONVENTION"
Max's boss hosts the 10th annual UFO Convention, and he ends up spending all his time running around Jonathan Frakes (guest starring as himself!). While doing that he must avoid the couple that witnessed him saving Liz after the shooting. Meanwhile Sherrif Valenti has his own problems when Everett Hubble comes to town seeking revenge.
EPISODE #14 "BLIND DATE"
Liz becomes the most popular girl in town after Maria enters her in a blind date contest.
During her blind date, Kyle and Max become drunk and bond over their love for Liz.
Liz and Max share an intimate moment but it's soon forgotten when Max sobers up.
Michael convinces Isabel to help him signal the fourth alien.
EPISODE #15 "INDEPENDENCE DAY"
The mysterious fourth alien is revealed while Michael's home life reaches boiling point.
Michael ends up staying with Max and Isabel after a violent confrontation with his foster father. All seems lost until Max's father offers Michael an alternative.
EPISODE #16 "SEXUAL HEALING
An intense kiss between Liz and Max results in Liz seeing visions of stars that she believes could help Max solve the mystery of his past. Convinced of this, Isabel and Michael pressure Max into continuing with this experiment", so with every kiss Liz begins to see further and further into their past. A mutual decision leads Liz and Max to desert, where they discover a mysterious glowing rock, buried in the sand. The two head back to Roswell to face the consequences of their actions.
