On the beach
Fire in the sky
Cayucos beach was lovely when we found it. Fairly empty too, although it seemed like an awful lot of building work was happening all around. Suzanne had wanted to paddle in the Pacific for a while, and this was the ideal opportunity. The fog had lifted which was nice.
You can't really see it too clearly, but this was a rainbow effect on some clouds, even though there had been no rain, and the fog was non-existant. Just outside of the town where we had beached. Weird.
The remainder of the journey remained relatively uneventful. We had a brief stop en-route at a roadside fruit stall which had fresh everything. We bought some peaches and a huge melon and a few other bits and bobs and got back on the road.
We hoped to make it to Wolf Mountain before it got dark and we made it. Just. It was 8:30 and the sun was just down as we swung left onto the dirt-track road that led us to the sanctuary.
