Bungee Jumping

Two guys are bungee-jumping one day. The first guy says to the second. "You know, we could make a lot of money running our own bungee-jumping service in Mexico." The second guy thinks this is a great idea, so the two pool their money and buy everything they'll need - a tower, an elastic cord, insurance, etc.
They travel to Mexico and begin to set up on the square. As they are constructing the tower, a crowd begins to assemble. Slowly, more and more people gather to watch them at work.
The first guy jumps. He bounces at the end of the cord, but when he comes back up, the second guy notices that he has a few cuts and scratches. Unfortunately, the second guy isn't able catch him, he falls again, bounces and comes back up again.
This time, he is bruised and bleeding. Again, the second guy misses him. The first guy falls again and bounces back up.
This time, he comes back pretty messed up - he's got a couple of broken bones and is almost unconscious.
Luckily, the second guy finally catches him this time and says, "What happened? Was the cord too long?"
The first guy says, "No, the cord was fine, but what is a 'pinata'?"

Have you heard the news? There is another year approaching fast. Are you ready? What will the new year bring? Have you made any New Year's resolutions? Do you remember any you made last year? Bro. Charles commented that we started out 2003 in church on a Sunday and we'll end it in church on a Wednesday. What a wonderful way to begin and end the year.
What a blessing we received on Christmas Eve when Bro. Jacob (Jake as he likes to be called) was saved. God continually adds to our little church, each a blessing. It has been wonderful to have Bro. Jonathon with us for this brief visit. It was so good to hear him and his neice, Rachael playing together. He'll be heading back to the Army soon, so enjoy it while you can. Did everyone enjoy their "hugs and kisses" from Sister Judy? That was a nice gesture on her part. Remember ladies, hat day is on the 11th. We will be having our annual (anyone know how many years we have been doing this?) JBC Dinner later this month, all the info will come as soon as Bro. Tim figures it out. Remember, invite everyone you can, but inform them of our dress code.

Rejoice
by Mrs. Charles E. Cowman

"Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice" (Phil. 4:4).

"Sing a little song of trust,
O my heart!
Sing it just because you must,
As leaves start;
As flowers push their way through dust;
Sing, my heart, because you must.

"Wait not for an eager throng
Bird on bird;
'Tis the solitary song
That is heard.
Every voice at dawn will start,
Be a nightingale, my heart!

"Sing across the winter snow,
Pierce the cloud;
Sing when mists are drooping low
Clear and loud;
But sing sweetest in the dark;
He who slumbers not will hark."
