Beginning in a cemetery, a brother and sister visit their father's grave. As they visit, the looming presence of a dark figure in the background becomes apparent. As their visit comes to what seems a solemn end, Barbara is attacked by this strange figure. Johnny leaps in to save her and is killed in the process by the unhinged killer. Escaping by car, then on foot, Barbara finds her way to a seemingly abandoned farmhouse and becomes a fugitive from a menacing force, holed up in a dark, dangerous house.
Eventually, she is not alone, one man arrives at the house in search of gas to fuel his escape from the growing hoard of the un-dead, but is also forced to barricade himself inside the house too. As planks of wood begin to block the windows and doors, thier situation becomes ever more apparent as the radio provides information to their situation.
The, just as things seem to perhaps be settling down, a family emerges from the musty basement. A mother and father of a girl who was bitten en route to the farmhouse earlier in the day, and a young couple. As the emotional stress grabs hold of the group, thier petty differnences tear them apart. The situation becomes apparent, they need to fuel the truck and get out, but the odds are stacked heavily against them and the chance of their survival grim. All they know is the attacking army of creatures outside will not stop, and will keep coming and coming until every-one of them inside the house is dead. |
