Rabid (1977) From the warped imagination of David Cronenburg comes this super-strange horror movie involving ex-soft porn star, Marilyn Chambers. Chambers plays Rose who is the victim of a motorcycle accident with her boyfriend. He recovers, but she is seriously injured and has to go into surgery for an experimental operation that will save her life. But little do they know that this operation will in fact leave Rose lusting for blood and spreading a new strain of Rabies she now carries. As she roams the city searching for victims in malls, apartment buildings and sleazy porno theatres she spreads her deadly disease and soon, the city is in chaos as the new strain of Rabies spreads like wild fire through the population. Not a zombie movie in the strictest sense, but a bloody good sub-category of the genre. Definately worth a few viewings to decifer the madness and the atmosphere Cronenburg once again pulls off in his usual bizarre style. Trivia: Marilyn Chambers who plays the lead role of Rose was a soft porn actor prior to this movie. "Pray it doesn't happen to you." "You can't trust your mother, your best friend, your next door neighbour..." "One minute they're perfectly normal THE NEXT..."
