PUNCHES & BORDERS

There are many different punches out there and 4 basic sizes - jumbo, large, medium and confetti (very small) You can use your punches in many different way's, combined together to create your own "punch art", as a border, as a frame for a picture, on the corners of you picture, used throughout a page or in conjunction with some pen and ink work.  You can use your punches to help you make paper piecings as well. I don't do too much "punch art" on my layouts, but I do use punches to create frames and make borders.

BORDERS

PUNCH ART

The ladybugs were made with small circle and spiral punches, the red circle was cut in half and a few dots were added with a pen.
The bee's were made with a small circle punch, heart and spiral punch.
The flowers were made with two sizes of a sun punch.

Above I made borders by running a Stampin Up wheel with this design in Black on white card stock, then cut it out and mounted it on different colors of card stock. Then I colored in the flowers with water color pencils and blender pens.

This border was made by cutting out decorative paper and mounting it onto a complimentary mat. I do this a lot, I like simple embellishments so as not to detract from the photo's.

On the bottom of this page I used a daisy punch (by family treasures) and alternated on squares of paper, at an angle. I used blue daisy paper by Frances Meyer and yellow card stock.  The butterfly's are also a punch.

FRAMES

This frame was made by gluing together pieces of thicker cardstock to the same shape as my picture to make the frame, then I punched out several different colors of the jumbo Maple leaf (by Family Treasures - see links) and glued them on to the frame facing different direcrtions. For frames I prefer earth tones or if the color is brighter - all one color.
