Boats there stayed there a long time ran out of food and sometimes died. If there is an ocean of a lack of biological activity then you are convergence. Ekman transport forces the water together thickening the surface layer. Water will become divergent as a result of the ekman transport. As wind starts to blow parallel to a place it creates a perpendicular Ekman transport drawing water away from the coast |
