Back to the Grove

Perhaps...

Queen Anne is a weed
   that stifles the rose.
The rose grows up;
   the lace grows higher.
The rose forms a bush;
   the Queen makes three.
The rose is beautiful;
   Anne tries to be prettier.
The rose has thorns she can't help;
   The lace hides her strangling roots beneath the ground.

But perhaps before the rose dies,
   someone will come along who knows the truth.
He will see the Queen Anne for who she really is,
   and he will see who the rose really is.
And he will choose to love the rose.
